I don't get why I should care. People die all the time, that's life. Unless the person had a profound effect on your life, there is absolutely no obligation to care.
You can set your watch by it. Every time someone famous dies there's the "why should I care?" holier-than-thou post.
I don't see it as holier than thou. People die all the time and if I tried to care/grieve for even half of them, I would end up killing myself. I've never met Whitney Houston, I don't know anyone who is associated with her in anyway. I probably enjoyed some song at some point in her life but I never was a big fan. So when she died, I said something along the lines of, "Really? huh," and that was it. I see know reason to care beyond that. If her family is said, I feel for them, but the fact that someone who I don't know died doesn't make me care. I can only care about the living in that case (like her family).
When Princess Di died, I was too young too much about her beyond her social status and that others held her in high regard. So when she died, I watched the news, thought about it for a moment, and then went on with my life. I don't think I'm holier than thou for not caring beyond that.
Sorry, I'm super high, and that was way too long.
