Changes in 2004 DVDs — Page 26

Apparently all four discs are out there now. This cap comes from someone who claims to have them. He also claims that Luke no longer screams as he falls in ESB. If true, it would be a small victory for us purists.

New Jabba:

Greedo shoots first? Not in my DVD player.

No way, someone already did a fake Jabba. It looked just like that and took him little time. Hayden maybe, but that still looks awful.

Jabba looks like a vast improvement, but still doesn't look right, hope this isn't a finished shot as neither Han or Jabba are making any eye contact

As you see the new digital Jabba is The Phantom Menace Jabba pasted over that old Special Edition Jabba. My opinion is this change vastly improves this scene.

More Jabba Comparison
I love this. Jabba looks infidently better. I also want to throw this in the face of those who thought this wouldn't happen. When the bits proposed this I automatically accepted it as fact. People critized me for it. Now I have prof its real.

i almost thing the first one looks better....
Lucas must have some really shitty animators or else they just pumped this out without really any thought...

The coloration is better, but it looks like his head got stuck in a vise grip.

How about instead of giving us something to complain about, we just eliminate it entirely. Sound good?

I like the new Jaba alot more because he resembles Return of the Jedi Jabba alot more. He also has better coloration.

I'm with Bossk on this. Jabba's head looks rather pointed doesn't it? The coloration is better, but there is still something that doesn't look quite right. I can't put my finger on it. However, I happen to like this scene in the movie. I have always thought it belonged in there. I guess it goes back to when I was a kid and read the novel for Star Wars. I liked the scene then so I've always wanted it in the movie.

I think the picture is just stretched a little...If you look at Jimbos link you'll see that it is a little distorted....
Oh, but it looks bloody amazing....the colour, the detail..they really have made the DVDs look bloody fantastic....

I found this.......

Dunno if it'll work...

It's the new dialog to ESB...Emperor and Vader........no pictures, just sound.

If it's real, it's a fucking hash job....Vader has like two different tones to his voice now.....Jesus, they are fucking with my fave film of all time.

I was ok with the McDiarmid change until it became apparent that they changed the dialogue. Too apparent.

This is sad. I understand the continuity thing, but why destroy the creepiness of the scene?!?!?! The original, even in the SE was a chilling scene. Now, it just points out things the Emperor would obviously know since he's in cahootz with Vader. Good bye poignancy.

I was actually tempted to buy the set once I heard the scream had been taken out. That was a nice day...

You're not buying it now, though, are you?
I heard the clip yesterday, and was appalled. You were right, it was originally a chilling scene, because of the mystery contained in the dialogue. Now it's obvious. I also felt that Clive Revill added to the mystery as the Emperor in ESB, because I really had no idea what Palpatine looked like until ROTJ, and when I saw Ian McDiarmid in the Throne Room, I was shocked and stunned.
Clive Revill's still alive, by the way. Is there anything legal he can do about being replaced, because out of all of the replacements (Shaw, Jeremy Bulloch's voice), Revill is the only one being completely excised.

My computer here at work doesn't have speaker so I can't hear anything. What is the new dialogue? What exactly has changed?

The scream has been taken out. Really I never really disliked this change so I am also neutral towards it being taken out. Still it will appear to those who disliked it so I am happy its gone. I personally like the Emperor change. It does enhance the scene but it is a bit unfair to Clive Revill. I guess this is what this site is for right.

Just to be clear, Jeremy Bullock was never the voice of Boba Fett. That honor originally went to Jason Wingreen, who also portrayed the bartender on All in the Family.

I do agree that the mystery has been completely removed from the Emperor scene.

Emperor: "We have a new enemy. The young rebel who destroyed the Death Star. I have no doubt this boy is the offspring of Anakin Skywalker."

Vader: "How is that possible?"

Emperor: "Search your feelings Lord Vader. You will know it to be true. He could destroy us."

Vader: "He's just a boy. Obi-Wan can no longer help him."
