Does anyone know if h_h's new mix is lossless-sourced? Otherwise maybe there's no reason to make a DTS-HD MA track of it?

I think h_h's old SW mix was in AC3 448kbps.

As before, the main source is Belbucus' 1993 PCM stereo track; and for this version the edited sections come from Mallwalker's 1985 mix, also lossless.  Due to the specific properties of the bass, the best source for much of the LFE channel is the lossy 1997 mix.

While download links were only ever made generally available for the 448 kbps AC3 encodes of the first versions, d_j did obtain the uncompressed files, though with his computer issues I don't know if he still has them.  This time I hope to eventually post all the tracks in lossless form as well as in AC3, so DTS-HD MA encodes are certainly feasible.  Since most of the audio is laserdisc-sourced, the resolution is 16-bit rather than 24, but all the available sound quality will be preserved.  ;)

Thanks for the info hairy_hen! (And your hard work on mixing the audio)

That's good news for everyone following this project who was wishing for some lossless (at least almost) audio.

Thanks Hairy for the update, I am looking forward to encoding a new DTS-HD MA 5.1 file once you are done, I will keep an eye on my PM's :)

also Great news Guys!

You_Too was correct, it was not freezing on me, I just could not tell it what to do because I was in the USB 3.0 ports lol(my mouse and key board) Thank GOD it was an easy fix, and sorry I did not comment last night, my little Boy and Wife and I went to see Underworld Awakening IMAX 3D last night and then went out for Dinner, I had to leave and get my mind off the darn PC lol, but when I got home and read You_Too's PM I actually chuckled a little bit, but it worked, all is running great and Windows 7 Pro 64 bit sees all my drives and is using all 16 GB's of RAM.

We are currently pounding the hell out of it to make sure it will run stable and keep cool, so far everything is looking real good, this CPU runs at 3.5GHz with Turbo it goes to 3.9GHZ, but we have it at 4.5GHz, as You_Too said, we will keep it at a "sane" overclock level lol.

Thanks again You_Too for all your help and guidance in this adventure, it was fun and frustrating all at the same time, but it was 1 hell of a learning experience, I can't wait to rebuild my old PC for my little guy now!

There are a shitload of connections on the back, I just plugged into the USB 3.0 instead of the normal ones above it lol, but now I have the drivers in Windows 7 Pro 64 for the USB 3.0 so I probably could switch back now if I wanted, they just were not installed at the start.

That's good, I would save the USB 3 ports for something that needs the bandwidth, like external drives etc.. don't waste them on things like keyboard and mouse.. :)

BTW, especially HDDs on USB3, the most common problem getting them to work is chipset incompatibility - the USB3 chipset on the mobo is not working quite right with the USB3 chipset in the drive case/dock. Secondly, USB3 requires more electrical power than USB2 for the same drive, so if drives don't seem to power up or are not detecting properly on USB3, try a shorter USB3 cable or a additional power source.. Just FYI in future..

I've looked everywhere for the covers that are in the first post here and I can't find them. Could someone let me know where I can get them?

You get them when you get the Discs, they are always included, I do not make separate uploads for the covers, so if you downloaded the movie, you should have gotten the covers, unless it was the first Blu-ray Set, then I email you the covers after I send you the Discs, and I will not upload them by themselves sorry.

Just want to let anyone know that is interested in our(You_Too and I) new BLU V2, testing is underway, I was messing around with Empire and I am really impressed big time, I have to admit, at first though it kind of looked funny so colorful, but that is because I am so used to what these videos look like before, or maybe only with very mild color alteration, like in BLU V1, but anyone who got BLU V1, this is really going to be different, and in a very good way, it is a huge color difference.

well back to work.

definitely interested in V2.

The only problem I see for now is the frame fixing that was doing on my almost V2 lol, depending on how I feel about it, and if You_Too wants to help on that, it was all for nothing, because the color is so dramatically different this time around, and we cropped it much better, so none of what I had before can be used, so it has to all be done over, or I will just leave the video "as is".

Hi DJ, do you have a screenshot comparison of the "almost V2" and the new "DJ+Y2" version?

No I can't, I have gotten all those files off my PC as to not get anything all mixed up, and ESB was never fully finished because I broke off to finish Conan.

Also I want to mention that I am already getting PM's from members wanting to donate blanks to project BLU V2 so you can be first testers and to have an actual hard copy of the Set in hand when we finish, well at this time I am not making a list, it is still to early, but I will say that this one is going to be a lot more limited than any before, my last BLU donations did not go very well, I had some that did not even let me know when they got their packages, and I knew they did because I track them, let alone give any kind of feedback whatsoever, whether good or bad, either in this thread, or by email\PM.

The only person at this time that is guaranteed a Set is You_Too, so he will get one sent for sure, that is the least I can do for my partner.

Understood.. I only ask because I'm curious as to your comment about the previous frame fixing which would essentially be "wasted" and how the cropping (?) is much better this time..

I guess I do not know so I'm ignorant as to why the previous work was wasted - I always assumed that Y2's work was built on top of the G-force script - hence it is a significant but "related" improvement and work. And the comment about cropping threw me too.. Cropping? Why would it need to be cropped? Can we spare those pixels? ;P Sorry, I think I've missed something important here..

Absolutely not, so we can stop mentioning that script, we accomplished what I wanted to do in the first place but I could never do it fully myself, You_Too has done it, we eliminated that script altogether, there is none of it used this time, so it is all us only.

Wow! Ever since like forever, I've always though of that script as like the be-all and the end-all to improving the GOUT. But looks like DJ and Y2 have made a breakthrough of very serious proportions!

So do you two guys think that if DJ had not tried to do an upscale, the improvements would have been discovered? I mean to ask, how critical a role was the fact that an upscale was being attempted to the discovery of the methods/techniques used in this new script? If DJ had tried to do another DVD instead, would it still be as likely that Y2's new script would have come to light?

That is some serious achievements there, DJ + Y2. Kudos to you both, it is not easy to take what is a "de-facto standard" and rebuilding it from scratch and obtaining a significant improvement. Congratulations, you guys should be very proud! :D

Funny you should mention that lol, early next week I will be building a new PC for my 11 year old, he came up to me after building mine and asked why is he the only one in the Family with a whimpy PC, so now he is going to get one almost exactly like mine, the case is the same only a mid tower not full, he will have 8 GB's RAM and not 16, and he will have 1 video card like mine, not 2, and his CPU will be fan cooled not water, so it will be a "mini me" lol.

Hi Everyone,

I am wanting to know if anyone knows how to make subs for BD's? nothing is set in stone but we may add in subs this time around for BLU V2, I was told that the format for these subs are BDN, which is an xml control script and png graphics, and the languages I will be looking for are these, English, German, Sweden, Spanish, etc.

I think if we can add these to this release it will make it that much more professional looking, because this is the only thing missing, aside from different audio tracks which I will not include, there is just no room with all the other options.

Thanks, and again, this is not set in stone, we are looking into it for right now to see if we can do this without having to redo the entire BD menu system I already have.

I am making 720p subs in five languages to accompany your project.  Are you interested? ;)

Basically once I have some screenshots of your alien subs (once those are finalized), I'm releasing my project to the world.  If you need them before my project is released, I can arrange that too.

EDIT: The languages are: English (regular & SDH), Spanish, French, German, and Brazilian Portuguese.  And trust me, the screenshots are relevant, I'm doing something weird involving matching the English subs to the alien subs and it happens to look awesome IMO.

Also, I've got workflow documents for how to make subs with new languages (e.g. Swedish), but I ain't doing them myself.  Sorry I'm a bit burnt out after three films in five languages...

The format is PGS, and the file extension of the files I create is .SUP (very different from the DVD .SUP format though)

If you can add subs to your projectit would be all kind of awesome.

I added french subs and audio to your V3 dvd and it really made my day and those of my friends ^^

Again thanks for your hard work guys!

Hi DJ,

So glad to see Blu V2 is underway.  I offered this awhile ago (when you were just thinking about doing another blu release), but I just wanted to remind you that if you need any blank blu's just let me know and I will send you a spindle of verbatims.  I'd love to help out in anyway I can with this project.

CatBus, I do not think that format will work for blu-ray, my menu guy said it has to be what I posted above, and the subs I would like to add are these,

English, Swedish, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and maybe more if I can get them in the format I need, plus I do not want to use the theatrical font for the subs, I want to use a normal looking one like used normally, and which font that is, I am not sure yet, but SW theatrical will not be used.

Infinity, just keep an eye on this thread for when I start accepting them, and like I also said, I am going to be a lot more pickier about who I let join in this time for the above posted reasons.

Thanks

By the way I forgot to give you guys and update on things, Star Wars is rendering right now, it will be done in a couple hours, then we(You_Too & I) will fix some of the bad frames, then I will go to work on the audio, then we are going on to Jedi, it has less bad frames, Empire is by far the worst so we will do Empire last.
