The company was called Clean Play DVDs (had to look through my old emails to find it, I'd forgotten).  Never a big company, and overcharged at times.  As I said, they're gone now.  They would actually sell edited physical copies of the DVDs, clearly outside what this site supports as legit (though the work done here is technically not legit either).  There is a site that the promo person emailed and recommended to me, now I get constant emails from them, though I have never used them.  I hesitate to offer a name for fear of breaking OT.com rules.  I don't advocate piracy or illegitimate movie distribution, but seeing as I don't want to watch an offensive movie to edit it, I feel content to let someone else fix it for me.

The DVD players seem like a good way to go, especially if you only want to watch a few edited movies.  You have to pay by the month to download the editing parameters, but you have unlimited access to any movies in their database during that time, and I think the first month is free.  You could then adjust the setting for the film you had in mind, if you wanted to watch a PG or PG-13 movie, for instance.

I find studio-approved edits funny as well.  I remember watching Ghostbusters on TV once, and the part where Ray calls that environmentalist guy ****less was particularly funny.  The mayor asks, "Is this true?"  Peter answers, "Yes it's true.  This man has no..."  The edited version was a different take with alternate lines, Ray calling him a weasel instead, the mayor asking if it's true, and Peter answering, "Yes it's true.  He's a weasel of some kind, but we're not sure which."  Cheesy, but it made me laugh.
