Puggo Strikes Back! (Released) — Page 19

The major stumbling block is Puggo's Super 8 gear can't take more than a 400 foot reel.

I don't know if it would even be an improvement over his current ESB. I think a better print of ANH would be a bigger priority. Or any print at all, since IIRC, he said there are lots of good prints of the 81 version, but he wanted to preserve the 77.

...but one step at a time ;)

I doubt that I could make a super8 transfer that would match my 16mm transfer. Part of that is my skepticism that super8 has comparable resolution, and part is the fact that the super8 workprinters don't use a sprocket to drive the film. The little claw drive makes it compatible with reg.8, but also makes the image less stable. It also requires faking the scope since it doesn't have a scope lens.

I've already got a 16mm ROTJ print and it's next up in the queue after PSB.

That said, I'm sure a clean Derann print would look great in a home if projected through a very good projector with a scope lens.

Any news on the color correction progress from Adywan?  I understand he's very busy but I would love to hear if you've gotten any results back from reels 2 / 3.

Things about the print itself, or things in the movie?

Great news!

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

I'm one of those people who crave extra content such as behind-the-scenes etc ... but this obsession is unfortunately at the sacrifice of ultimately ruining the "magic" that a movie holds on its own.

Anyway, I was wondering if you could include any footage of the contraption that you use to transfer the 16mm reels into digital.  Since we're now in an age where kids will never have grown up with joy of "filming" (which includes the humble still camera let alone a motion-picture) AND the risk of whether one's artistic creation may not even emulsify properly at the processing lab (ie the local KMart booth).

I think that what you provide here would in some way become a sort of historical document that might otherwise become lost in time and memory.  Then again, I'm sounding like my grandfather here.

Thanks again for everything you have done here.

By the way, Adywan is almost done with the color corrections... just one small fix for which I need to send him a small patch from the other capture.

A little bit of wee came out!

This sounds great... I can't wait for it. An Adywan and Puggo Collaborative Release can't be anything less than magnificent.

Adywan's color-corrections are done and will be back in the states shortly.

Remember, there are still fuzz balls, dust bunnies, and assorted mouse-droppings, so however those square with "magnificent" will naturally be in the eye of the beholder :)
