Today's project: figure out how to get a fairly alarming quantity of blood out of the fabric exterior of a shoe. Any suggestions?

Depends on what type of blood. For example is it from cow or human? What body part did the blood come from? Is it thick or somewhat liquidy? Were there clots involved? ...

Blood type unknown. Human. Arm. Liquidy when it hit the shoe, dry by the time I got the chance to clean it up. No clots involved, totally gushing.

Don't worry, it wasn't my blood; I am fine. And actually it cleaned up really well, which is nice because it is an awesome pair of tennis shoes. I used cold water, soap, and a bit of saliva and it came right out. Probably helped that it was only a few hours old when I got to it too.
