Trying not to get off subject, but 4k is considered the limit of detail on film. That has to do with the grain (individual particles in the film that make up the picture) that while physical bits are pretty much the analog equivalent of the pixels.
You could digitally scan for more detail, but you won't get anything more out of it. So 4k is the end for digital transfers.
All they can do after that is to find some lossless codec to eliminate the loss from digital compression.
That said, I'm glad I haven't actually got around to burning the v3 discs yet. D_J keeps surprising me with what he pulls out.
