Hey for all you DVD guys...I have an interesting option that could help improve picture quality drastically.

After the video is captured, you could attempt (this would require mammoth HD space) to import the video into an editing program (e.g. Adobe Premiere) and use its color balancing and attempt to sharpen the picture up. I've been able to work some interesting results with my own work and in the hands of an experienced person, could touch up the films nicely. Plus, you'd be able to test the side breaks and get them perfect.

Also, it can export the file as a DVD video file so all you'd need to do is burn the disc. Dunno if this has been covered already, just FYI
