I can dig Ralph Mcquarrie art the guy is a genius but again that said, his ideas were raped for the PT's really and the budget would seem did not stretch to his final vision, like you said is a shame...
The only way to do these Ideas would build minitures of all the buildings CGI would look lame IMO
