A few "worst of 2011" nominations over at the HTF of interest. ;)

why would star wars be one of the worst boxed

sets for 'EXTRAS'? i think the extras alone made

it worth getting. (not talking about the other content).

these guys are just doing a knee-jerk reaction. lame.

The extras are the ONLY reason I bought the set :-)

Um, what else good was there apart from the poorly presented deleted scenes?

The best extra is the unadvertised one--included with every set is the free license to own HD Star Wars fan edits.  That extra truly priceless.

Zing!

Yeah I can't see praising this box over deleted scenes and utterly average transfers, extras. Because nobody does that. Nobody except EVERYBODY. You can say all that about 2FAST 2FURIOUS. But let's give LFL a trophy for participation, like in preschool.

The franchises I get nerdy about are so obscure that not even most nerds know about them.

So today Andrew Stanton (writer/director Wall•E/John Carter) has been replying to tweets of a hashtag of people's "favorite Pixar movies". Here's one of them:

The poor fellow has probably never even heard the original. Pity him.

Does the SW twitter serve any real function beyond fanboy circle jerking?

Where were you in '77?

Dude, you'll need to be more specific here. Not much of difference between BD and DVD versions or BD and original versions or what? In picture quality, colour palette, changes?

I was up at my dad's this weekend and I noticed that the Blockbuster near his house was having a "Store Moving" (moving online, there were tiny signs beneath the big ones saying as much) sale and everything was for sale. We went in hoping to find the SW Blu's and while they only had ESB and RotJ (and three other movies claiming to be Star Wars), we bought them both for $10 a piece! I need to find ANH solo, then my fan edits will be justified, and I didn't have to give anything to LFL!

My cousin who still buys this sort of crap told me over Christmas that they inserted a green 1950's style robot into the Jawa droid sale which creates another continuity goof when it fails to appear in a later shot.

Please tell me this is him just pulling my leg.

Guessing they are referring to either:

R1-G4 :   or one of the low domed LIN-V8K droids:

Here are the results of the BR changes via the MF.com thread and the OT.com SE changes threads:

here's a good Astromech resource page:

It's possible he is getting so paranoid about changes that he sees them where they aren't.

I didn't consider either droid as looking like a 1950's style robot but I guess the R1's have a touch of the Robby about them but neither of them are green.

I guess it's not just the distant memories that cheat (or he is pulling my leg).

I haven't watched the blu-rays or maybe I could tell you.

And the post on the MFdotcom link about sebulba was hilarious.  "It's fake!  It has to be."  I remember saying that about Hayden in ROTJ.

Jambe and I are planning a commentary for the Blu-rays. Unfortunately since I don't have ANH, we might have to start with Empire, which wouldn't be strange for Jambe...

Good to know he's with our cause at least. It's a shame more big names don't sling dirt about the issue, but maybe they're worried about upsetting the most powerful person in Hollywood, or more likely they just realize it won't do any good.

I just popped in the documentary extras disc.

Man...mpeg 2? 192kbps sound? Could they have screwed up those older documentaries any MORE? :(
