The only way to make the scene tragic would be to make new shots from scratch to play up the emotion. Otherwise, Lando (and the Falcon) will just go down as lamely as Boba Fett.
I think Lando should live, but we should make it SEEM like he's going to die for the sake of suspense.

I would definitely agree with MrInsaneA on the order. It should open with the Death Star, then cut to Dagobah. Also, I'm a big fan of how the sounds and the quietness are played up in the beginning with Darth Vader arriving. It's powerful visuals with audio that really makes things feel unsettling and "something's about to happen"-ish.
