Get anything for Christma- I mean, for the holidays? Brag here!

This is a thread where you post what sort of cool, nerdy things you have received/purchased for yourself for the holidays.

I have already received some stuff early, you know, like in the mail.

When I saw this thing in the store, I nearly pissed myself (not really, I don't love David Bowie quite enough to involuntarily relieve myself in public).

But anyway, it's pretty in depth, more like a book than a magazine.

Also, I got Alien on blu-ray individually. Because the other ones suck. Not too much else to report yet, however I also got a Fender guitar...

What about you guys? Pics or it didn't happen.

Nice guitar, Gibson fans can brag all they want, but I'll take a cheap Squire over a Gibson any day.

I got Zelda Skyward Sword and guitar strings. I don't feel like taking a picture, so I guess it didn't happen. ;)

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I need some guitar strings now, I just broke one off playing Pinball Wizard.

This thread will get more posts after Sunday.

Getting old sucks. No one is buying me a guitar or skyward sword (although I did "acquire" it off the internet). I haven't had a chance to play it yet as I have kids and that means I get to play video games...well...not often.

I think my folks are buying me two chairs for my kitchen table since when the (ex)lady friend left she took her two chairs with her. Damn practical gifts, but I guess it'll beat wheeling my office chair over for dinner. I feel like I am a little old for my parents to be buying me furniture but I'm young enough (29) to not try and talk them out of it. :)

I quite like Alien 3, the one with the Ric Olie impersonator, Ralph Brown. The director's cut version.

Well, Aliens is good in it's own way, but when I tried watching it after I just got done with Alien, I realized how much of a lesser film it is.

It has it's moments, but just not as many as Alien does.

For my birthday (which should be a holiday), one of the movies I bought was the Aliens Blu-ray, after which I sold my Quadrilogy DVD set. I'm going to buy Alien with some of my Christmas money I think, reminded of its glory by the Prometheus trailer.

Anyway, we haven't really gotten any Christmas presents yet, but Mrs. O'Five did buy me this chair yesterday:

I'm careful to point out that I got a chair, since every one of my friends on Facebook and Google+ tried to guess what it was that I got, including a lot of you people.

I've hardly heard any Gibson Acoustics which could match, or even come close, to most all 70's early 80's era Yamaha's, IMHO. None can match a good Martin though! <----- says the proud owner of 4 Martins!! (six counting the two baby Martins)

More stuff!

The Ziggy concert, Metropolis on blu-ray, the Criterion edition of Days of Heaven, Atom Heart Mother (2011 remaster), Taxi Driver, Inglorious Basterds, A deluxe Batman Begins with a huge booklet, and a couple of Muppet pens.

I got some other things, but those are the ones worth mentioning.

Keep in mind I shopped for myself and put it on the parents' credit card.  It's what they wanted because shopping for other people is apparently too intense now.

-Muppet Show Season 2... despite protests from the 'rents that it was inappropriate for my age.

-Metal Gear HD Collection.  Once I beat 1 I'll go on to this.

-Looney Tunes Platinum Collection on Blu-Ray.  These shorts have never looked better.  And there's a lot of extras, including... a shot glass...

-Back to the Future: the Game.  They just released a physical copy for the PS3 for $20 bucks with all 5 episodes, check it out.  Lots of fun and pretty easy to pick up.  Be forewarned though that the game is very obviously meant to be a download and not on disc, as even with a blu-ray it hiccups quite a bit.

-clothes! And for the first time in my life I'm happy about that. haha.

As an American who has seen enough English shows, I will say that sounds good. Or at least they always looking good. Does anyone know if there is anything in America that could be compared to Jaffa Cakes?

Someone mail me some :)

I've been stuffed with sweets all day today, and hearing the words "Jaffa Cakes" still managed to make my mouth water.

When I lived in Detroit the local grocery stores all stocked this Turkish Jaffe Cake knockoff in the "ethnic foods" section. Where I am now I haven't managed to find anything like them.
