Don't think for one moment that every picture or video i post is ever 100% the final version ;)If i did that then there would be nothing left to show in its final release

I'm constantly amazed at how many times you've further amended ESB:R shots that were already looking great.  :)

But I notice that the tiny Cloud-Car in the distance is not visible anymore.  I'm hoping it's movement outside the window will still be noticeable, now that you've further tweaked the shot you originally showed.  This is a terrific enhancement of this particular continuity flub, regardless.

Thanks for these additional previews, and I'm looking forward to the next ones!

It's an earlier frame than the original one posted. The sky traffic is still the same in the final version.

here is todays Christmas preview; (click to view full version)

I loved the new cloud car you added that flew around the building in the walk to "dinner" clip you posted a while back.

Yup... don't forget the fantastic scale work Savmagoett has already done:

rescaling the foot on a still image is one thing, but actually doing it on a moving image is completely different. I know, i've tried. The main problem is that part of Lukes body covers the foot as it crushes the snowspeeder. Scale that foot up and you have a huge section of lukes body. It isn't so easy to cover that up, especially when the foot flipper is moving. The only way to do it would be to create a new CG foot or build a new foot and speeder miniature.

So can it be done?

Well there is no way i'm building anything more than i am already for this edit. Not only would it add extra months to create this thing but would add to the already overreaching budget. And to go down the CG route, the foot would have to be so well rendered and have the movement match 100% to give it natural looking motion when interacting with the original speeder. And you only have to look at the speeder crash in the chase scene at the beginning of AOTC to see just how fake something like this can look. So, no i won't be doing it.  But if someone was to prove that this thing can look 100% realistic with Cg then i'm willing to change my mind

Isnt the AT-AT model you made good enough for replicating the step with bigger proportions? I think if handled with care it can support good detail for a close up.

The Crash in AOTC is fake indeed but its not the best example of good collision and CG in films :)

Also something else i wanted to bring:

Cause of the stop motion effect, all the snow that has been thrown away when the AT-ATs are walking look like mud. The snow seems stuck down like it has glue.

I wanted to suggest if possible adding some snow dust each time we see the walkers creating that mud like effect.

(the mockup is exaggerated just to stylise the effect)

(lol anyone else noticed that this shot is seen twice? one with the wire run and once before. No idea why the quality differs so much. any ideas of making one from both different?)

Sure A machine that big could have more intense interactions with its surroundings

Just something i had in mind just in case you want to consider this concept..

Shootin some footage for Ady the same way Ming did. Ming is 2nd Unit director....I'm 3rd

I'm a little wary about that. I mean, Wolverine in ESB? That could take me right out of it.

Its a crossover film, hadn't you heard? Wolverine travels to Hoth to learn of his origins and gets stuck right smack in the middle of Vader's ground assault on Echo Base

That sounds pretty good, actually.
Wait until you see the part where Wolverine, inspired by seeing Luke take down a walker, uses his claws to climb up the leg of another walker then chop the cockpit part off with one swipe!

Hello everyone.  I'll keep this short long time reader first time poster.  I like Angel's idea with the snow.  The mock up doesn't look too bad either.  Not sure how possible it is to incorporate.

His claws are much longer than I thought! :p

Understandable about the foot resizing.  A couple of other suggestions: would it be possible to have the foot crush into the snowspeeder more?  Also, during the shots of the snowspeeder flying around the AT-AT feet (where the camera tracks the snowspeeder), would it be possible to create a background behind the snowspeeder to reflect that the camera is spinning around the AT-AT (and we would see more than blank sky)?

I concur; this could be a good project for someone who is really good at CG manipulation.

I also like Angel's idea of adding snow impact FX around the AT-AT feet during movement.

Angel's idea would certainly add realism. I'm for it, as well.

Oh, and merry Christmas Eve, everyone! =)

Good to hear that. Its certainly a good solution when adywan said no to the annoying camera shakes :)

Thanks for the heads up Loconut.  I'll just stick the comparison image here too, for easy reference -

This is another shot that's been given terrific further enhancements now.  It has a really epic look to it now.  Great stuff.

That's 'Eric' and 'Casey' down there according to Ming, and it's neat to see an example of how the '2nd Unit' shots look.  And although we can't make them out here, it's good to know that these guys are wearing adywan's accurate rebel costume detailing...

And at this point I'd just like to wish adywan and everyone else on these forums a very merry Christmas.

Here is this years Revisited clip for Christmas. This scene is mostly complete apart from the overhead gantry matte shots( just after Luke gets his hand cut off), where i will be replacing the background matte and one close-up shot of Vader. This scene uses the Blu-rays as a source.

Thanks! I like that you fixed the wobbling helmet and made the tubes glow where they were cut.

I had not noticed before that there was an echo to Luke's voice. I think that an echo feels unnatural in that environment. I checked that scene on a laserdisc-rip (OOT) a few times. Apparently, it has been there all the time. Too bad..

However, I also noticed the colours of the windows in the chasm.  The elongated windows ("dotted line") are not red in all shots, but sometimes much more orange. In that way, the BluRay is actually closer to the original.

I would like to propose that you make all elongated windows that are now red changed into a more consistent hue of reddish orange. That change would provide a richer image and be more true to the original, I think. I also think that the hue does not need to be so saturated. Saturated colours attract the eye, and the lights are supposed to be in the background.

I also think that you could add some haze to your new matte paintings of the chasm. That would improve the sense of scale.

To commemorate the outstanding work going into ESB:R, me (and my girlfriend, begrudgingly) made a Battle of Hoth themed Christmas cake. Merry Christmas everyone.
