IIRC, those Topps cards are just fancy video captures, so you can probably guess the source material.

on that latest clip i noticed that bens cloak changes from brown to almost black when he says "this place can be a little rough".  in the top left comparison clip i don't think his cloak becomes that dark.

Where's my damn medal?

Harmy,

I watched your SW-DeEd-1st-Workprint on my TV a few times. I had to demux your mp4 file and remux the video and the audiostream into a MKV file. I had to do that because my standalone can only play MKV files.

No reencoding was made, I just remuxed the streams.

I really like the colours in the Tantive scenes. But in a short shot the colour looks colder, just like the SE colours to me, it happens at timecode 3:46, the other scenes have the I call it warmer colours.

I also noticed at timecode 7:06 that Tatooine pans blocky over the screen while the escape capsule flies down to the planet. I wasn't sure if my player had problems in playing this thing properly but in your original posted workprint this is also a littlebit blocky. It is not very strong but it is there.

The yellow face of Tarkin has been mentioned here, but at timecode 16:48 the face of Owen looks very yellow too.

It might be reflections from c-3po's chest but honestly it looks rather like yellow skin and not like a reflection to me, what do you think?

Btw. the scene where Luke inspects his lightsaber in Bens hutt, I had to watch it again and again. The blue light looks soooo great.

I think I will watch your workprint a few times more until your final release comes out.

I also don't know if this is my player or if it's the video but when luke waves away the jawa who is eyeing his speeder the video changes brightness mid scene and then when luke starts to say "i don't understand how we got past those troops" it switches back in brightness.

EDIT: never mind i think this brightness switching is my player.  I noticed it in quicktime but not windows media player.  but bens cloak still looks a tad too dark as stated in my previous post

Yeah, I said it was a preliminary render. And that Ben's cloak thing's because all the other shots of Ben are from You_Too's render of the BD, so the blacks are a lot less crushed and that darker shot was from the HDTV. I already fixed that, along with some errors plaguing the Ronto butt shot. But I'll keep those fixed shots for the next WP.

sorry about the cards.  Some were in plastic.  I was really hoping they would help.

looking for HDTV of the  Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.  Also HDTV of The Lord of the Rings trilogy

Oh, that's alright, I never really expected them to be of much use, I was mainly just curious, which is one of the reasons I didn't want you to go to the trouble of mailing them to me.

Harmy, I pulled out my old widescreen cards, and they look much better than the scans troy sent you. Would you like to see them?

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Okay, my memory was really faulty. Here's what it says on the back of the first card in the set about the print they used.

Well, the 93 LD master was transferred directly from 1st generation positive film, so this could all be marketing jibber-jabber where in fact the pictures could well have been taken from the same digital LD master files that the GOUT comes from.

@Eric: Sure, I'd like to see some other scans. Although again, mostly just out of curiosity.

Harmy, at around 1:53:50 in ROTJ, as Han Solo is running away from the bunker, he becomes ghosted for a fraction of a second.

Also, MySpleen seems to only have actual disk versions, to be burned and played on standalones. Is there any chance you could release plain MP4 or MKV versions, without the compatibility restrictions posed by cimpliance to the AVCHD standard and playable as-is on any computer?

Or just get tsMuxerGUI and create your own ts file which is a MKV. This takes about 10 minutes to create the the container.

Hi,

First off I would like to say thanks for these new versions you have released to the public. I have only dl  SW and ESB thus far but its great to see them without the added "special features" of  George Lucas.

I have read much of those here critiquing the V1 versions from a technical pow even though I know they too greatly appreciate the work that has been done to get the original trilogy back to the way they were released. I too have noticed issues with yellowing in seens where surfaces I would think were white as well as some over exposure here and there. I can live with all that because its by the fans who are restoring them due to GL not cooperating with those of us who helped them succeed by going to the theatres and buying the tickeys.

I just have one question to those die hards out there. The SW the scene where Luck and Ben get stopped by the Stormtroopers in Mos Eisley. Two droids, white and yellow, pass in front of the camera. Now the White droid kinda feels right but the yellow feels added as it takes up more of the screen and REALLY breaks the viewers focus on the main characters. Is the yellow an addition or is it that I have not seen the original for so long in its purity that I have just forgotten it happened?

Just an observation if someone can put it to rest for me.

Thanks again for these versions. I just wish someone could sneek out of the Library of Congress archives the prints there and transfer them to digital format. With some fixing of course. :)

Merry Christmas people!

Yep, that yellow droid has always been there.

AVCHD is playable as is on any computer.

Really ? In which software ? Because I always open the m2ts file in a player directly

Well, that's what I meant. Although I'm pretty sure the newest MPC can open it as a disc. And the newest Power DVD should be able to play it as disc too.

Yep, that yellow droid has always been there.

I've always found that yellow droid distracting too, but it's much better than a big Ronto covering the whole screen! :)

Thanks for the responses. This is why creators/directors should leave well enough alone. Gets to the point one cannot tell the whats original or not anymore. Too many versions to sift through.

Thanks again for the response and thanks again for these current versions.

Cheers!

Really? In your opinion, this:

looks better than this?

Well, then I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree ;-)

They're both 35mm scans btw, so they're undoubtedly legitimate. Though the first one may actually be from ESB.

BTW Harmy (et al.) this probably goes in the "obvious" category, but a lot of times when it comes to 35mm scans where single frames of a title are posted, the particular frame can make a big difference in the perceived quality.  These two LFL's are from the same source, it's just that the bottom one is two frames later than the top one.  But it's an important two frames: the fade-out had just begun...

I just notice sometimes we judge the film/era/quality of the graphics from things which are actually "moving-targets."

Apologies for the full-res crop, but it makes it much easier to see.
