the video is down :(
youtube is banning every star wars video, and I must say it's really starting to get annoying
Sorry for bad English
Check out my Episode I edit.
Sorry for Bad English.
Aiya.
It managed to stay up for a little bit. I had some hope.
I'd upload it to Vimeo, but it's way too big for their free user limit of 500 mb, and my compressor has decided to randomly stop working.
Megaupload? I'd love to see what you've been upto!

I'll try Megaupload. But I've got to render a new clip to fix some things first.
Finally got my converter working! Uploaded a new clip to Vimeo.
http://vimeo.com/33621500
I'm not going to talk much about this, as I want people to form their own opinions AS they watch the video. Tell me what you think!
The new clip looks pretty nice. A good way to cut off some dead meat. The only complaint I have is that Anakin and co. seem to be changing locations qute a bit. One second they are in the great observation room (the one where they usually hold prisoners), then they are suddenly at the elevator, then we get some of Grievous and they are suddenly in the pilot's seats. Not to mention that both Grievous and the Federation folks have a reason to abandon ship, but why not leave the battle-droids behind so they can cause some damage to the Jedi?
I really like it.
One possible idea you could take from the apparently-sinking ship of the Kcutter's edit:
The glass to the bridge breaks in an explosion from one of the cannons hitting the ship, knocking Grievous out. Gives him a chance to do something cool and establish that he's Jedi-like with his grappling hook.
Yeah, I originally had the idea of a blast blowing the glass out - but that means I need to keep the conversation with Grievous, which I think kind of ruins the pace of the scene.
Not necessarily. What about after "time to abandon ship?"
Ah, yes. That could work. Didn't think of that. I'll have to see if it works. might have to edit Anakin and Obi-Wan out of a few shots.
Been watching your progress, aalenfae, and your edit is seriously shaping up to be one of the best I've seen. Nice work!
A feedback on the clip:
I liked the removed cyan you did. Careful the magenta tones that skin takes (palpatine) :)
Explosions light effects Very well done as well the sound desing.
"Leave him or we will never make it" I like the wobling camera movement but i think more sharp shaking
Finaly a shakeless explosion! :D
The footage appears a bit contrasty making it lose detail in highlights and shadows.
Activate elevator... the walls are still blue, will you remove the hue from them?
The alarm sound already feels 70s. One suggestion is to have it be in specific times in the shots otherwise it sound way to repeated. I think Tantive alarm changes a few times.
The overhead shot with the two ships battling need more Green to the lasers. It still look cyan-y ;)
I m generaly not fan of the phantom menace music that used in these shots. If not a new music replacement is an option then ok.
Nice new voice on the alien! Nice new static(monitor noise) on the above monitor of him!
The shot of obi wan awakes is particular successful as background replacement!
Good you got rid the falling elevator when they fall into the door :)
The new droid voice is something i have to get use to but 100 times better from the old ones
Grievous walks over the ship still appears in the exterior scene. maybe you can cover it with a slow explosion as overlap.
The new Escape pod shot is maybe the highlight of this video! If you can make it a bit longer and trim some frames from the fancy previous shots then its perfect!
The lasers that hit the ship is a bit out of the ROTS aesthetic. I can take it as a temp effect
Some explosions are a bit akward but i can imagine is a matter of time so you can find better replacements!

Yeah, the music didn't really fit well. It was action music, sure, but it was just not really the right tone for this. Hopefully I'll come up with something more constructive to say later? :-/
Aside from a dodgy music transition, it was great. Eliminating them meeting grievous really helps things. Now redub Anakin and I'm sold ;-)
I would love to take out the Phantom Menace music from that scene, but it requires me to do a lot of complicated sound work - mostly for the spaceship sound effects - which aren't really available, and I'd have to design them myself.
I actually like the music there. It's one of my favorite parts in the soundtrack.
edit: nevermind, I meant the part where they're crashing :V
Yeah, the music when they're crashing is great as it is.
But when the ship is nose-diving, and they're running down the elevator shaft, it feels kind of weak and canned.
Anybody know where I can get the actual engine sounds of Grievous' flagship and stuff like that? It'd make replacing the music much easier (And eliminate the choppy transition, which (unless I wanted screaming battle droids), was unavoidable.
Edit: I just remembered there's a scene in the movie with engine sounds and no music. I'll see if I can remix some new sounds for the nose-dive scene.
The new clip is pretty good. Most of the stupid stuff is once again removed.
I'm not a big fan of the elevator shaft/falling ship sequence. I think it can be removed completely if you remove everything from 0:40 to 1:13. It can go something like this:
1. They call R2 and wait for the elevator.
2. The ship is hit. Right as it starts to lurch, add a shake, and then cut.
(Optional battle scenes here. But please, no falling. It makes no sense [even in Star Wars] and makes my head hurt.)
3. The three of them get up (notice, they are in front of an elevator). Obi Wan has been awakened by the explosion.

These engine sounds might be available from the Clone Wars CG cartoons.
You know of the rebellion against the Empire?
I could keep the first shot of the ship falling, then cut to the final shot of the ship righting itself, perhaps. And take out any shots of the gravity shifting.
Oh yeah, the new CGI Clone Wars! There's an episode that has a lot of that kind of ship in it.
Thought it was great Aalenfae, the explosions, I though were much better, agree with others that the audio could do with a little work, but visually very good!
I agree with Erik Storm Trooper, I hate the lift sequence if you could cut it that would be awesome, you could have the call to R2 to get the lift, the ship falling, then the 3 of them falling down by the open elevator door, and the elevator shooting away, giving the impression they just got out, and fell over due to what was happening with the ship.
My other question, is could you add the Grevious and Shaak Ti deleted scene, before they head of to rescue the Chancellor?? You could cut it right after they cut through the floor and fall through.

Good suggestion. Jedi and Griveous should have some interaction before Utapau.

Aye, Grevious needed more screen time really, was also needed in AotC could of done with being on Geonosis and seen killing a few Jedi, but hey that would of actually involved Lucas thinking ahead.... He never seems like much of a threat in the films, unless you've seen the Clone Wars (esp the Cartoons) if you did watch them, he was a massive disappointment in film IMO. Killing Shaak Ti actually makes him seem like a threat, and adds more to the duel between him and Obi-Wan later IMO.
Possible suggestion on the order for scenes on the Invisible hand, I'm sort of considering a fan-edit, but am only in the planning/learning stage. If your ideas are set Aalenfae, please don't feel I'm trying to change your vision for the film, this was just just my thinking.
Hanger Bay enterance... cut the usual stuff (I’d suggest cutting most of R2’s shennaigans). Right after the hanger scene, add Anakin and Obi-Wan running into Grevious, he executes Shaak Ti, they cut the floor open to escape, Grevious says don’t shoot due to risk of explosion.... Ship attacked... Anakin and Obi-Wan emerge from hatch (later in deleted scene).. Anakin seals it (I’d suggest keeping the humour of Obi-Wan saying “it won’t hold”; “Ok I still have much to learn” (adds to the friendshipvelement I think)... Move to Anakin + Obi-Wan attacked by Droidecka’s, enter lift (cut the lift full of dumbass droids which seem unable to shoot before talking).... Duel with Count Dooku.... Everything I’ve seen of your edit so far with Dooku is awesome! They head to elevator door...
Cut lift collapsing, though keep ship crashing down.... Next scene have Anakin, Obi-Wan and Chancellor get up outside the lift; elevator charges off; ( – Gives the impression they got the elvator, with explosions going they are getting up from the explosions going off)... I love pretty much everything you’ve done with the scene after they get off the elevator. Only suggestion I’d make; You could use some of the shot of Anakin and Obi-Wan killing a few battle droids on the bridge and Nemodians running away from Bridge (gives the impression they’ve stormed the bridge).

Airplane sounds for the most of the flybies. Most of the time it sounds similar with slave 1
Pretty interesting why the chose to use such a type of an airplane for a massive ship.
Clone wars have some bits of a similar sound.

Well done on the video. It's always good to see a new ROTS edit. It has the most potential of the prequels.
I really like the edit of the elevator scene. It's so ridiculous that old man Palpatine somehow managed to latch on after falling and swing out the door without raising serious suspicions.
I remember someone else did a similar edit of this scene (maybe Bob?) and then after they swung out the door, inserted Obi-Wan's line "Did I miss something?" It was one of the few times I laughed out loud in a prequel. After he turns around, he has a very confused look on his face.
