Is it possible for you to work only with the "video area" and add the borders at the end ?
I've got to think that the whole video will be cropped/bordered at the end, but I don't know for sure how the process goes. But, yeah, it is quite noticeable as is. I just checked that scene and this popped out at 3:38:
