Maybe I'll add some smoke to hide the GOUT part of the added frames ;-)
Better yet, you could cover up those frames with the close-up butt of a Ronto that happens to be strolling through the cantina!

Wow, you've just saved me five minutes of work - I swear I was gonna do the exact same thing :-D
Ooops. Double post...
Now, back to serious bussiness ;-)
Here's a preview of my subs with You_Too's awesome tweaks and my minor tweaks after that ;-) I don't think it gets any better than that!
Those subs are superb! this must be because You_Too is a swedish guy. ;)
We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.
Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

Perfect! George Lucas would be proud! (No one else, though.)

Wow, You_Too just did it again! I just love this guy! Get this, he just sent me this PM:
I know I said I was tired, but I just had to try this before forgetting it!
I downloaded those preview videos of your slowing down Han's head motion, and I thought about this avisynth plugin I've used before called mvtools, which has a function called flowfps which can double the fps of a video. The plugin usually leaves either ghosting or weird looking artefacts unless it's a slow movement, like in that scene.
The result came out great and I'm going to give you both a lossless 25fps avi of the frames (rendered in after effects) and the raw frames, so you can use whichever suits you best.
And it's exquisite. While all my methods were just done by hand overlaying of frames at different opacities with or without sharpening, his seems to use some kind of morphing effect to create the new frames and it works! Video'll follow as soon as it's rendered and uploaded :-)
This is why I love fan projects like this. Everyone contributes what they can and make the best product possible!

Also, did you guys notice this? :-)
1) GOUT
2) SE
3) DeEd 2.0
Again one frame closer to the original :-)
Actually two, I also restored the flash frame of Han just before this one :-)
Firstly: Dat ass! lol :D Secondly: Greedo's near turquoise/yellow highlights and eye colour are now as spot on as I have ever seen, very cool. I don't think I have seen the 'real' colour of Greedo in any version of SW so this pic is very promising but how would the adjustment work with the rest of the scene? (Besides great of course!)
EDIT: was just looking at them shots comparing the 2 red lights, gonna need coffee!
well I'm no expert on the current issue of overlaying frames, but that looks very, very good.

Here's the latest rendition of Greedo's subs:
the greedo subs originally did sort of a morphing effect? Cool. Was that not present in the gout? I don't recall seeing it in that transfer. Was this on the 35mm print?

That new clip's all thanks to You_Too, I just cut it together :-)
Damn that looks good! How do you work so fast?
And it's good to see other people from around the world helping out like this. Waiting for this to finish feels a bit like waiting for a new (good) Star Wars move to hit theater's. The wait can be fun in it's self.
That works great!

method 2a didnt have audio when i played it. for what its worth i thought 3b was the best. but i still noticed the slow down. i watched v1 again and didnt notice it. what method was used there?

I'll admit that I never got around to watching the different methods comparison thread, but this latest version looks great
Holy crap, that's awesome! Nice work, You_Too!

Brilliant work, guys!
That looks great!
My only question would be that the subtitles might look a little too bold, from what i remember of the original? I dont know, i dont currently have the gout on my computer to compare.
