That's Route A. 'The Official Route'  Route B. 'The public Route' is what I was describing before.  (Route B. can also be a subset of Route A. if release is only carried thru after the expiration of copyright [see SWLegacy])  Both are valid and can be done and supported at the same time.  We'll have to wait and see which one prevails.  But you can't really fight for Route A, you can only ask for it to be done.

Some of what you said doesn't even make sense, because if the public has to break the law to preserve and restore the film, that is definitely not fine at all.

If breaking a law is necessary to showcase how the law is no longer unacceptable.  Then we'll deal with the ramifications after I choose to break said law.  My 'sense' might not be 'fine' for you.
