First thing that came to mind was that the "X" formation represented swords, the dot behind was someone's head, and the thing in front was the body. A weird decapitation scene basically... I have a violent mind.
Anyway, why doesn't your friend remember?
Also I think it looks more like Sharpie than a real tattoo, but whatever.
