This is horrible on my part, but my first thought is "Why couldn't it have been Sandusky?"
I don't know how complicit Paterno was in this whole mess, but it is sad to see a human being go from being (supposedly) fine to dead in 8 weeks. When my Grandpa died a few years ago, he had about 12 weeks of deterioration before he was gone. It was very difficult.

I don't know. I believe he is complicit. I think he just made the mistake of assuming others would take care of the Sandusky mess. He reported it to campus police(and they are technically real cops) and to the powers that be at Penn State and made the mistake of washing his hands of it. At first I was really upset at Joe Paterno. I thought he was truly covering up for Sandusky. Now, I am not so sure. I don't think he truly understood what he had on his hands. But I don't know. I guess I will never fully understand what happened and why Paterno didn't do more.

yes, it is sad. Its sad to see such a legend fall. And that is not even close to how sad it is that these children got molested. The whole thing is sad.
