After reading Wookieepedia, as I've long given up on actually reading most EU, I can confirm the presence of Anakin, Obi-Wan, Palpatine/Sidious & the Prequel Jedi Council, but they mostly get written out pretty quickly, with the exception of Sidious. The book also serves as a backstory to The New Jedi Order EU books, as well as a backstory to Thrawn. YMMV
