In this case they are an error, since there are some reference materials like 70mm scans where areas being purple in the SE aren't purple in the original.

I forgot to say I think your colour corrections are coming out excellent. There is a certain artistry involved in timing the colours, and I think sometimes a neutral approach is not always the best one. You seem to have hit a good middleground.
