DJ--on the subject of burnt-in alien subtitles, are you collaborating with Harmy at all on creating these?  Considering these need to be rendered anyway, I don't see much point in two different projects doing it independently, and his latest batch for his SW 2.0 look extremely close to theatrical IMO.  That still leaves ROTJ to do, though.

I worked very closely with msycamore on these, and we have them done already, these were all resized and positioned for the 720P framing, and they were all done with avisynth scripting, so these are as close the Theatrical as they can be, they look nice, msycamore did 1 hell of a job on these.

Plus I am done with SW and ROTJ, just need fix a few more shit frames on ESB, and redoing some of the audio files for all 3.

Thanks for the status update!  I'm looking forward to these audio fixes as well!

Wait, so there are v2's coming out of the Star Wars GOUT Blu project? :)

LOL, I just saw this post, but yes there is, more work has been done on the video, and I have a better source for some of the audio tracks used(digital rips instead of analogue captures) so it is video and audio upgrades on the new Set.

No time frame yet though on when this Set will be finished, but once this Set is done, I will not read any more breakthroughs on anything here LOL, I want to go back to doing Custom BD's, this is a lot more fun, and it is not Star Wars.

No not yet, I NEED to finish my Conan project first and clear it from my hard drive, plus I am redoing all 3 of them, SW & ROTJ are pretty much done, just waiting on the files from h_h so I can encode a new DD 5.1 & DTS-HD MA 5.1, so that is about it, have a lot of things going on right now and not all of it is good, when I have more to share, you know I will.

Conon Project? I assume its the conan the barbarian series? I wasn't aware there was somethong wrong with it that it needed remastering? Details?

I love this. I was originally just looking to see how to watch the 2004 bonus discs in proper widescreen format, but this is so much better. Can't wait to watch it.

I have a wee issue that I hope someone can resolve. I was using ImgBurn to put the first SW on a dvd. I went away from my computer for about 20 minutes and came back because I thought I had accidentally selected the SWV3 folder rather than the VIDEO_TS sub folder. So, I stupidly cancelled (especially considering it was a DVD+R) the burn only to find that was not the case. I did however put the disc in a player and it seemed to work fine.

Is there any way to tell if I have "missed" something?

IMGBurn automatically detects what type of archive you are burning. You'd be set, but cancelling it might cause some problems.

I guess after 114 pages, I'll chime in too, but thank you DJ for your hard work.  The day the blu-ray versions are released will be the day we all remember :D

OK I am here to give a small update on things, and the news is not good, first off the good updates, well SW & Jedi were almost done, I was still waiting on the new and improved hairy_hen audio files, and I put the new files I had ripped from the LD's in synch and ready to go, but Empire still had some work to be done, but since all this working and waiting I have to admit I got really burned out on this V2 Blu lol(this is why I did the Conan project, needed something new to do) but since then You_Too has renewed my interest and we are working on something together that looks very, very nice, we had some very promising results, I was even tossing around doing a V4 DVD with the new master avi for the BD's, and my other goal here is to eliminate someones script entirely OUT of the picture, because this certain someone deserves absolutely no credit at all!

Now to the very bad news, you guys are going to be waiting much longer for these to be finished and uploaded, my powerful work horse PC has officially died Friday Night, the motherboard crapped out, so all files and programs, and my BD burner are unavailable for a while, now like I said in the Conan thread, my lap top is pretty powerful, but not that powerful, plus I need access to all my drives and files and programs lol.

So take care Everyone, I hope you all had a Happy and Safe Holidays!

Hi, DJ, I'm glad to hear you decided to co-operate with You_Too, like I suggested :-) Sorry to hear about your computer, hope you'll get it resolved soon.

Thanks Harmy, but we will see what happens, he may just release something himself, and I am not sure how long it will be before I can even do anything project related, if it wasn't for my lap top I wouldn't even be able to get online lol, so the V3 DVD and the first BD Set might just be it for me.

also very sorry I did not get to that file you needed yet, now I obviously can't access it at all

again, take care Everyone.

Thank God for Skyrim lol, this has taken my mind of things for now.

Don't worry, I'm just gonna use the GOUT for that now and if you can get it for me when you gain access to your HDDs, I can just switch the files :-)

Hope you get your pc fixed fast.

Whatever ends up being released in the end, i think we all are very grateful for your hard work guys.

Happy new year!!!

Sorry to hear about the setback DJ.  Nevertheless, I really hope you'll forge ahead with Project Blu and release it at some point in the future.  I can only imagine how sick you must be of working on it, but from the samples you've shared, it definitely seems like this is a preservation effort worth completing and sharing with the public.

Please know that a good many people will be patiently awaiting this release, no matter the delay.

Just found out about this, my previous way of watching Star Wars was always the 1995 "faces" THX laserdsics, it'd be great to see this on blu-ray. Sorry to hear that thing's just got held up dj. I keep hearing talk of V1 and V2 blu-rays, did 1 version already come out?

Finally I'd have a use for the blu-ray burner in my PC.

Keep up the good work.

Hi jbracciante,

I'm not sure if you read the first post of the thread or not, but there have been three DVD versions released to date, with the third and final being the one most people are viewing at this point.

As for the blu-ray versions, although the first post states they are unfinished, dark_jedi did release the... I guess you'd call them "work prints"... to a small group of people (those who kindly donated blank BDs for testing).  However, DJ has since stated that he's restarted the BD versions from scratch, but, as you read, is unable to work on them currently.

So, in short, V.3 of the DVDs is where this project's currently at.

This is all correct, with 1 exception, there may be a V4 DVD in the works along with a V2 Blu-ray, and my PC woes are hopefully coming to an end soon.

Thanks for the quick response. So the V1 blu-rays were never available publicly. (Just as the V2 DVD's never were)

So the main advantages of the blu-ray V2 would be:

Lossless audio (In the form of dts-hd and pcm tracks?)
better quality video (720p and additional tweaking?)

otherwise it's going to be fairly similar to the V3 DVD's?

Edit: Super glad to hear your computer problems are being resolved.

Edit 2: Just remembered I have a huge box of empty blu-ray cases from discmakers. When these come out I'm totally going to print those awesome looking custom covers and stick these on my shelf.

I've seen some of the Blu V1 footage and believe me, we're talking vast picture quality improvement here, especially if DJ manages to make it even better for V2.

Here's a comparison I posted some time ago:
