Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released) — Page 68

I think -R tended to be more compatible with a variety of devices than +R, otherwise, I don't know of any difference.  My players are all compatible with +R, and I guess at $17 or so for a set of these versions of the trilogy, I won't complain!

I would never use Memorex.  Their lightscribe disks are the worst made, and the only coasters I've ever had for DVD-R's, SL and DL, have all been Memorex.  For SL (and CDs) I stick with Taiyo Yuden, and for DL I've only used Verbatim.

I use Verbatim for years now. Never got any problems.

I thought  Memorex was a name brand. Have you ever had any problems?

I doubt they actually make their own discs. Like many companies they source them from someone else and slap on their label.

I've always used Verbatim and have never had a problem.

The consensus in the disc-burning community is that +R is a more soundly designed format, and if you use a bitsetting drive, your discs will *always* be more compatible than -R discs. As Harmy said, best SL discs are Taiyo Yuden and best DL discs are Verbatim.

Ah Puggo said it, whoops

Funny, I haven't had any problems with Memorex DVD+R DLs, I burnt some stuff on those a year ago and they still work.

Why all the hate towards Memorex? Not doubting any of it, but their commercials used to be (obviously) pro-Memorex over other brands.

I've never had any problems, but I'm not that picky about what I use. Heck, I'll even use Aviva! :)

Is there some trend of Memorex=Junk? I'm not asking rhetorically or sarcastically, either.

Sorry Harmy! I was just posting in response to the other people who were posting. I'll move my comment over to the other thread.

I guess this is the wrong hangar matte?

(Click for big version)

On the subject of mattes, wasn't the problem with negative1's 35mm film scans that they made great stills but due to subtle warpage would not make a good moving picture?

Soo... doesn't that mean we'd be able to use film scans from negative1's project to recreate missing mattes, since they're essentially stills?  Or maybe I'm missing something obvious.

Harmy--do you want to handle seeing if you can get those 35mm stills for mattes, or is there something you'd like the members of your robot army to do for you?  We await commands.

Hell now that I think of it you might be able to rescue the Lucasfilm logo, the galaxy far, far away text, and at least some if not all of the end credits this way.

I downloaded the NTSC DVD5 from ulozto And I am confused

Part 3 has VTS_01_ fills a VTS_01_5 that is complete and VTS_01_4 that has the end of Luke saying “there” and the beginning of wedge saying sorry. Part 2 has a VTS_01_4 that ends with Luke saying you can’t do any more good. VTS_01_3 seems complete . There is also a VTS_01_2 in part 2 that will not play but is must be related to the VTS_01_2 in part 1 that ends with Han saying Chewie, lock in the auxiliary power.

I am guessing that the

VTS_01_ files have been split ?

Is so how to a fix this if not what is wrong?

i really liked that mos eisley shot but the sky color looks really different in the next scene with luke getting out of the speeder.

I think consistency of colors is really important

like some times i notice that the characters skin color changes tones slightly.

for instance when han runs around the corner and sees all those storm troopers his face is really tan like he just got out of a tanning bed.

Hey, for 1.2 are you going to fix the first shot of Luke and the training remote after the destruction of Alderaan, so the saber looks as blue as in all the other shots?
Author

As far as I remember the lightsaber looked white and not blue on the theatrical version.

 (Edited)

On the GOUT, yes, due to desaturation, but not on older transfers. On the Technidisc LD and on Moth3r's widescreen telecine bootleg, it's blue. From what I've been able to gather, there was much less visible color variance in Luke's saber in theatrical prints from shot to shot than there was in any of the pre-SE video releases. (When the SE came along, it got really messed up.)

Besides, Harmy fixed all of the other shots to be blue, even ones that sometimes turned up looking greenish or white in older transfers.

It's just that it's the one shot in the DE that doesn't match.
