Ladies and Gentlemen, I wanted to return here to let everyone know about the commencement of Legacy 2.0, but now that things are going again, I really need fewer social media sites to check rather than more, so all future discussion will be happening in the forums.

Well... good luck to you. I don't need more sites to check, though.

See you there!

Something you may not have noticed before (actually, this crowd probably has, come to think of it):  Blue drop shadow on the closing credits.

Wow, I always thought that was just part of the color bleed in the pre-SE video transfers. The more you know...

Dude, this thread is abandoned, remember?

(although I see he's still reading it...)

I know. I just wanted to make one last comment. It's a pity that he moved over completely to the Legacy website. A strong ot.com connection could be handy. Ah well...

In keeping with the spirit of this project I think he should make his forum only accessible to himself while occasionally releasing small snippets of random forum posts to the general public.

No matter what you might think of Mike, the screenshots he's posting are valuable as a reference for people like Harmy for example. And whatever spirit this project has, I'd say even if we won't see it in many years, somebody is actually restoring the original, something Lucas might never do.

I also wanna say that I'm not choosing sides here, I'm just pointing out the positive things about it.

Probably because it's a blatant attempt to drum up traffic to his site (a site where he makes it clear he has no intention of releasing this preservation yet has no qualms with selling merchandise related to it,) and to shift all discussion about his project under his complete control (where he can remove all critique and censor the discussion if he so chooses.) Imagine if Harmy or DarkJedi never released their projects (just a tiny handful of screenshots every several months) and instead opted to sell T Shirts with OT catchphrases. Hahaha, I mean come the fuck on. Everybody wins!

A stupid question, but are you THIS Mike Verta ? http://www.mikeverta.com/

Anyone else check out this site?  Watching the video, I was reminded of the old joke:

"But enough about me... why don't you talk about me for awhile?"

Apparently the only time he's not self-congratulatory is when he's letting other people congratulate him :)

I am glad I am not the only one that see's that, but I will keep the rest of my opinions to myself.

OH, and I still agree with Stinky LOL, I am glad he is only updating this at his own site now, who needs 1 small picture here, 1 piece of a picture there, hell, how do we even know for certainty that these images he is showing are what he says they are?

I agree with the comments critical of mverta, with the exception of his decision not to release his work.  I understand his caution 100%, and don't blame him one bit.

But popping in, doing some advertising, and then popping back out to his own forum is real weak sauce.  Especially when he wants me to buy a Han Shot First shirt for $20.

And while his work is much more valuable/important than what Antimatter has done, I'm getting the same self-important vibe.  And it confirms my original thoughts on the matter, where he took uncalled-for shots at adywan and then refused to acknowledge it further when called out on it.

Weak sauce.

My favorite part was when he put 100% of the blame for the blinking Ewoks in RotJ on BD on Adywan.

Yeh. The profanity that went along with the criticism on Adywan's work was more than uncalled for. Unfortunate that things had to go sour this way.

Especially since he did not deem it necessary to elaborate where that kind of hatred of fan-made 'special editions' (or specifically Adywan's edits?) comes from. Why be that angry about a fan-edit? Just because they weren't done on the professional/aesthetic level he operates on? Awkward.

On the other hand I can't blame him for abandoning this thread. He clearly stated that there are certain roads he won't follow - no matter what. Yet, some of us kept trying to push him there. In my book that's just a precaution to avoid unnecessary red tape.

Then why not just ignore those who didn't get it?

And why the comment about how he can't have another place to keep track of?  Again, it smacks of self-importance that he thinks he doesn't need another place to keep tabs on but we will all add another site to our watch list.

In a way he pushed that giant ignore button by leaving here and restricting access to his forum. The way he did make his exit, wasn't glorious at all (the given reason for leaving being an all too obvious cop out). I give you that.

But so were the attempts to push him into a topic direction he didn't want to take.

I think he should start selling official Mike Verta pre-worn socks, like how schoolgirls in Japan sometimes sell their used panties. I can imagine Frink balls deep in a pile of those things.

If he's not going to sell any (which I would totally understand) he should at least give us a couple pictures of the ones he's wearing right now. He could at least have the decency to tickle our asses with a feather like he's been doing all along.

This demands a rebuttal...unfortunately a worthy one escapes me at the moment.

Frankly, I'd much rather read about what he's doing for the project over at his site than any of this ridiculous sour grapes bickering.

Author

I honestly doubt this 'sour grapes bickering' stems from disinterest in Mike's Legacy project. It stems from George Lucas' irresponsible attempt at rewriting film-history.

I have no reason to be angry at Mike nor the people who are critical of him. The only person I'm angry with, when seeing what Mike is capable to achieve and what might never be seen by anyone but a lucky few... is George Lucas.

Oh,

c'mon people.  the guy speaks of a phantom project and is pushing merchandise on his website.

now he's trying to syphon people away from ot.com?

also does anyone else find it funny that the guy hasn't posted a screen shot of a scene only available in gout?

in fact why not post a short clip from a gout only scene?  that would prove without a doubt that the work he is doing is legit even if he doesn't want to share it.

and don't give me that legal mumbo jumbo he's already posted clips and images on his website just conveniently nothing that was exclusively in gout.

if he mans up and posts a gout only scene fine i will admit i was wrong, but i still don't like the fact he's profiting off of this so called "labor of love"
