I enjoyed many projects that also had his hand in them, such as Indiana Jones, Willow and the sequel books, etc. He's not all bad in my opinion. His biggest weakness is that he became too convinced that he alone is the key to Star Wars' success instead of allowing more creative input from everyone else. Reading The Secret History of Star Wars shows that he acknowledged his shortcomings before, and if he still had been willing to acknowledge them again when working on the PT, he would have made far better films.
