Whoever is on the Facebook page, connect them to the petition.

“What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one.”

And have them spread the word as far as the possibly can.

As my signature suggests I think before we connect the petition to any of these efforts the website needs an overhaul, and possibly the petition itself.  I know it was rewritten at one point.

Yes, after I posted the link, there were some comments about why the petition was still calling for "Star Wars on DVD."

How many members do you have now? Does it appear to be growing?

There's close to 600 now. There was another "boycott" page on FB that got there a couple weeks before I put this one up, and they have a couple hundred more members, last I checked.

Unfortunately, it needs to be a LOT more than 600.

No doubt, 600 isn't enough to make a sales or future release decision difference.  However, it's at least a start on getting the truth out there about Star Wars and Lucas' lying about it's history.

The Facebook page and Kaminski's site & book will be out there for people to reference and educate themselves with.  People will always be free to join whichever team they want, but they'll know the truth - whether they want to admit it or not.

The truth about Star Wars and exposing Lucas for the petty egomaniac that he is - that's all I'm really concerned with any more. My Star Wars universe is now solely EU-based.

This makes my Panda sad, although I believe you do have good taste in EU...have you tried watching either Harmy's or dark_jedi's SW preservation?

I have not.  For the record;  My move to EU-only, which has been helped by & guided by this very board, isn't because of DVD quality.  It's because of story and characters.

Star Wars77 will always be part of my world, whether I watch it anymore or not (nearly 5 years and counting).  I've thought about checking out Harmy's or DJ's work and I probably will eventually.  The samples I've seen (clips and screengrabs) look great.

I just want deeper, adult stories and deeper characters.  Lucas can't deliver that.  In fact, he's spent years trying to do just the opposite.  Even going as far as rewriting and weakening previous characters specifically to make them less adult and more childlike.

I have no interest in that anymore. Truth is, I didn't really have any interest in it back in 1983.

Unfortunately, it needs to be a LOT more than 600.

A LOT doesn't even begin to describe it. I don't think it could even make a dent with gong into the millions, sadly. How long did it take for it to accumulate 600? Maybe if it continues mathematically, it'll get bigger as it goes.

The page has been up since Aug 28th. The "other" blu-ray boycott page has over 800 members (many of which, I'm sure, are the same people who make up our page's nearly 600, so there's an overlap there).

If it makes anyone feel any better, my four OOT YouTube clips have nearly 2 million hits combined, but they've been up since '06.

Check out critics Stuart Galbriath IV and "DVD Savant" Glenn Erikson at dvdtalk.com. They both do have fanbases and might be able to get the word out, and they've both been pretty vocal about Lucas changes.

How about a website which features an opening crawl style description of the issue? Y'know, "It is a period of turmoil. Cinema lovers everywhere are opposed by the dreaded LUCASFILM EMPIRE, which threatens to keep the original Star Wars trilogy forever locked in secrecy... etc. etc."

Also, if you want to start a blog or site encouraging activity on this issue, you could link to it in public using QR codes like the following:

Slogans could be things like "Join the Rebel Alliance!" and "Save Star Wars - You're Our Only Hope!"

The best way, of course, would be to grab everyone purchasing the BluRays, so maybe even sticking posters like the above next to the shelves would encourage curiosity, though perhaps a url should be included below the QR code for those that don't know how to scan QR Code.

This could all be done on top of the sticker campaign, of course.

I like your idea. Have anybody tried to test the feasibility of this solution?
