Best Scene from the Prequels (For Haters only!)

I would have to say the initial, short, lighsabre duel between Darth Maul and Qui Gon on Tatooine was my favourite. It was intense, not over-choreographed, and the first time we had seen a lightsabre duel in a Star Wars movie in 16 years.

The first notes of the opening fanfare in Episode I. It was all downhill from there.

Well, for me not really a scene but a quote cause I like to use it occasionally.

"Wipe them out.... All of them"

Usually in response to something at work like "What do you want to do with the old pdf files in that folder?"

The scene where Qui-Gon force-strangles the boy Anakin and then throws him into the Sarlacc pit. Oh, wishful thinking. Sorry...

I like the Droid factory sequence in E2

Ian McDiarmid is awesome as Palpatine. It is as if he is the only actor who takes his role seriously. Some memorable quotes:

"I will make it legal"

"Wipe them out. All of them."

"I love democracy. I love the republic."

"The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural"

Other than that, I would say the lightsaber battle at the end of The Phantom Menace is one of the best scenes, even though it was cut up to be interspersed with other battle scenes. I think that it was better than any of the other duels in the prequels. It was also influential in the fan community ... countless fan-films were made that had duels in them where at least one of the opponents wielded a dual-bladed lightsaber like Darth Maul's.

Several scenes actually:

Qui-Gon Jinn dying.
Darth Maul dying.
Shmi Skywalker dying.
Jango Fett dying.
Count Dooku dying.
General Grievous dying.
Nute Gunray dying.
Mace Windu dying.
Padme Amidala dying.

Really wish there were a lot more scenes like that.  ;)

May the midichlorians be with you.

LOL, great observation! All those scenes are way cool!

The friendly conversation between Obi-Wan and Anakin in episode three after they land the ship on Coruscant. For that scene, everything works, the acting, the dialogue, even a little of bit of the direction. Its one of the few scenes that actually feels like a real conversation between two genuine and likable people. Its actually one of the few times any of the films feels like it has room to breath rather than getting the plot moving or continuing the ham fisted character arcs. Had we gotten more of this between the two, I probably would have enjoyed the films more.

@OP

Maybe you should specify whether you really mean whole "scenes", or sequences, judged by all their aspects (acting, feel, maybe even dramatic quality), or anyone here can just name some 2 second moments they find cool.

For instance, I like almost every introduction, montage and transition sequence in those movies - the opening scenes after the credits, the closing montage, the panorama shots shortly before the real scene begins, various arrival sequences like the invasion army's, Grievous', underwater city, Coruscant... the scene where Anakin looks for the assassin in the bar... in fact, whenever there are no people talking, the prequels are pretty cool!

I always liked the scene where Obiwan was overlooking the Clones factory as the Empire music played in the backround, as it was foreshadowing the rise of the Palpatine and downfall of the republic.

That's ironic because the actual music that was playing there was the droid invasion track, so it was more like backshadowing the downfall of the Star Wars series in that previous movie :D

The "Duel of the Fates" duel before Qui-Gon bites the dust. After he gets skewered the swordplay becomes too flashy for my liking.

I do like the first two quotes and have used them on occasion. The third felt too weak to suit the scene. I needed more from him to make it a proper explanation for his power grab, not just generic fluff of lovin' the Republic. Fourth had good delivery.

I did like some of the Watto scenes, just one of the more believable actors in the movies.

The blue elephant in the room.

LOL!  Pure gold!  U forgot Jarjar though, so I'll create a scenario for u.  Imagine jarjar hanging from a tree in a noose created by his own tongue and giant fork stuck in his ass!

The few scenes i actually like are:

TPM:  Both Maul and Sidious having their "revenge" chat on some coruscant balcony.  And most of the duel, although some of it's crap(convenient red shield doors? Obiwans silly leap out of the shaft? Isnt there a high ground rule?   ;-)

AOTC: I like the darkness of the planet Camino and all the rain and the mystery behind cloning an army, although some of it's crap(Sifo-dyas plot device sucks ass and makes no sense).  Enjoy Christopher Lee's presence even though Dooku's story(or lack thereof) is pathetic.

ROTS:  Once we get past the opening silly nickolodean-caliber space battle and the Disney-like jedi/R2 comedy capers inside grievous' ship,  I actually enjoyed the kenobi/anakin vs dooku duel.  I also like the conversation between anakin and palpatine during the weird cirque soleil bubbles show.

And I do agree that Ian Mcdiarmid performed the best throughout these horrid prequals.

Yeah I kinda liked that part too although Luca$ recycled the clip of maul's initial sabre block against Qui-gon and used it again at the end of the short duel before quigon leaps to the starship.

Darth Maul going all Suicide by Jedi.

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

why do i feel the maturity level has died down here? :p

I like the last scene in the trilogy the most. Obi-Wan taking baby Luke to the Lars homestead. It's about the only moment in all three films that felt like Star Wars.

I like the birth of Vader scene, and how it's intercut with Padme dying.

I remember watching the first few minutes of ROTS in the theatre and thinking, "Wow, this looks really good, it looks like a Star Wars movie... If they did this with models and matte paintings it might look real..."

But of course, being a CGI cartoon, it very quickly melted into something garish, confusing, and altogether waaaay too fast.

^I thought the same thing.  I like that first pan down with those slowly building drums.  It's my second favorite opening shot after the original.

It's one of the few "shots" I remember from the prequels.

Speaking of opening shots, though, is ROTS the only one to open on a Star Destroyer like all the OT movies did?
