Remember that one time Tobar posted one of the best essays on the Special Edition and Ken replied that he listens to that podcast?

Good times, good times.

He never replied. =(

I got ignored by them as well.  Made a stupid DVD, sent them copies, they never replied.  Then saw them at the last Celebration and he said they wouldn't talk about it because they couldn't pronounce the title.

I tried to listen to an episode where they talked about/with Jambe, but I couldn't get past the first 20 seconds when the host was basically yelling saying that people needed to stop complaining about the Blu-ray trailer.

And as you admit here, you support anything GL does. That's simply dogmatic and blind to reason. We're not people who dislike Star Wars. We're just honest people who aren't afraid of critiquing poor decisions.

We have no reason to defend or support anything GL does. Only those who wish to maintain an income at LFL do.

Why do some of you wine and complain every time GL makes a change to the films? He has a right to change his films sure some of them are not good you can't please everyone. Sure not everyone is not going to like the changes but it the changes don't take away my enjoyment of the films.

OK, I promised myself to keep quiet, but after some decent adult attempts to make serious comments towards this person in an attempt to help them realise the problem with the majority of their posts, to then post this tells me one of two things:

1/ This guy is a troll plain and simple, or

2/ He is a young child, or an adult with the mind of a child.

Either way I ask the mods step in here, because I'm sick of seeing what this thread has become.

Just the same crap on every page going back and forth.  Mods please pull out the big stick and clean up this thread.

I am not a troll ok I am a star wars fan like everyone else and if you don't like my opinions on anything star wars that's fine you don't have to agree with everything I say I don't expect you to. But enough of the name calling please enough is enough.

That is fine with us all.  What you've failed to realise for pages upon pages is that YOU do not seem to be fine with other people's opinions when they differ from yours.

If moving forward you can accept others opinions, likewise they also accept yours, then there should be no problems. That famous saying of "agree to disagree" and leave it at that.

I've just realized that ken has only ten real posts on the site. He then just copies and pastes the one the suits the situation best.

I'm just curious here. Why did you even join this site?

As long as the fan preservation and fan edits continue, we win.

The only loser is George Lucas for failing to capitalize on peoples' desire for the OOT.

I must tell you something. I LOVE alternative versions of movies, because they're alternative versions. I love e.g. the extended cut of Aliens, and I think it's better than the theatrical cut. But the fact is that I have the freedom to chose which of the versions I'm going to watch, because BOTH versions are commercially available in great quality, in the last releases they're even on the same disc !

The people who prefer the extended version can watch the extended version. The people who prefer the theatrical version can watch the theatrical version, and in the last Quadrilogy DVD & BluRay releases it means only selecting a different menu item.

And the most important thing is THE ORIGINAL VERSION IS PRESERVED.

George Lucas treats his films differently. He keeps changing them with every release. In the VHS days he only changed the colouring of some scenes, or the audio mix, but since the "digital days" he keeps changing the CONTENT of the movies. The original versions are NOT officially released (just a bad copy of the 1993 version) and NOT PRESERVED, and Lucas tries to do everything for persuade everybody to forget that they ever existed.

That's the main reason we keep on bitching. That's the main reason why this website exists. To persuade the main man that he should release BOTH versions.

I have drawn those conclusions as well in previous posts.

Ken is not malicious and doesn't attack anyone - I appreciate that. He is more or less respectful despite his strange views and rationalizations.

Ken, just go and enjoy the blu-rays. Why come in here knowing that most people will take issue with your opinions? You're certainly welcome to express them but at some point you should realize that nobody's mind is likely to change.

CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!?!

I don't mind his opinions. I get them. There are people on this site who have similar opinions - they like the SE, so they don't mind watching the Blu-Ray version, but they'd like to see the OOT released as well.

My problem with Ken is that he isn't making sense most of the time and tends to totally overlook arguments.

So, I wonder how many of these BD sets have sold now? I wonder if the sales have dropped significantly since the first week of release.

When I was going through the flyers in this Sunday's newspaper, I didn't see one single ad for the set- not in Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc. You'd think they'd still be pushing it since it's only been out a couple of weeks.

Too lazy to do the math myself - not too lazy to dig up a few sources for the amount of dough LFL raked in so far:

I know that the BD sets sold very well the first week, I'm just wondering if they're still selling well or if the sales have dropped off significantly. The sales could actually end up being disappointing if the fanboys all bought it the first week, but if the more casual fans heard the internet chatter and decided not to buy, when they normally would have bought it a few weeks or months after the release.

Oh, wait, is this the KenKraly thread? ;-)

If Amazon is any indication, it's still in the top 10.

I was sort of hoping that, but I kind of doubt it given that it's still in Amazon's top 10.

The problem is we'll never know.  The internal projections made by LFL of what they need to sell to break even or what they need to sell to fund this or that future project is something which won't leak, but what is important to them being a disappointment or a success, or if word of mouth affected sales.

I think these type of releases can't fail in the traditional sense, they will sell enough to cover their production, but LFL needs them to go beyond that to help fund their next venture.  LFL is in so many different media venues (movies, tv, video games) these movie releases just give these other things a financial cushion.  But if the new tv show gets pushed another few years in the future that maybe a sign of if the BD sales meet with their sales figures.  but probably something else.

Star Wars is associated with 'goodness', the out cry this time placed a dent into that.
