It would just be nice if you said something new for a change.  What about admitting you made up the story about getting an email from LFL, for starters?

Kenkraly let me be blunt. You are not welcome here! And you're doing yourself a disservice by coming here because as you've noticed people just make fun of you. Go back to badmouthing us places we're not welcome and idiots like you are the majority.

Sheesh.

enough of the name calling bkev.

He's right bkev, that's technically against forum rules.

Although I do wonder why you keep coming back, ken?  What do you have to gain?

Kenkraly - you are being called "a troll" because you behave like a typical internet troll. You are repeating the same stuff again and again and again, most of the time to completely inappropriate discussions.

It's OK that you like the special editions, I have nothing against them. The problem is that even the special editions are released in a version full of errors. It's nice that they corrected SOME errors for the blu-ray release, it REALLY is. But WHY did they correct only something and not EVERYTHING ?  They surely had enough time in the last 14 years, didn't they ?

Problem 2 - you will never find 2 identical home releases. Why can't George make some damned "final cut" of each movie and never touch it again ? And the main question - why can't we have 2 versions of each movie on the discs ?

The blu-rays are GOOD. But they could be PERFECT.  And the sad thing is that I enjoyed watching the deleted scenes and documentaries MUCH MUCH MORE than I enjoyed the movie discs. And that's really sad :-(

At least Lucas is consistent.  I felt the same way about the prequel discs and the 2004 DVD set.

Guys, Iv'e bean thinkink abuot te Blue Rays and I thuohtg...

The sound for those little video clips of all 6 films on the star wars youtube channel just don't sound right. The little video clips on the starwars aficionado blogspot site and on the walmart site sound so much better. Those audio from those youtube clips will not be how it will sound when the final blu-ray's come out in September.

I'm currently reading an interview with Kayleen Walters the Senior Director of Marketing at Lucasfilm about the blu-ray release. I just came upon this little snippet and thought I should share:

What are the challenges involved in converting a series of movies that are up to 35 years old into High Definition?

We wanted to create the best possible visual and audio experience for the home audience while maintaining the artistic integrity of the movies. We had previously done a meticulous, industry gold standard restoration when the films were first released to DVD, so we had a great base to start from. We also made some technical improvements from the previous restorationincluding some color matching, most notably on the lightsabersfor this release.

"...maintaining the artistic integrity of the movies."

Can these people even hear themselves talking?

Not over the sound of the money in their pocket.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

It's a subject that Burtt has devoted a lot of thought to over the years, this idea of going back and changing a text once it's ostensibly completed. "Initially I thought that when films are done you should just leave them alone. Even if there's flaws in it, they're a product of a certain creative process in their day."

"That's how I felt after we finished the first three films," he explains. "But the world has changed. As I say, George has never wanted to let them sit still. He's always had additional thoughts because I think he enjoys it."

It's nice to know that not everyone compromises their beliefs for money.

If he goes along with it, he has compromised his beliefs.  Plus, he said "the world has changed."  What the frink is that supposed to mean?

Now I understand why some fans want the original cuts of the original trilogy because that is the versions fan's grew up with and it's a very good point. Now hear me out before you start with calling me a troll and this and that. I know in the past I have said some things that have made people on this forum upset. I understand the whole point of this site to get the original cuts of the original star wars trilogy on blu-ray or whatever the next format comes along. Now I do like the original cut's of the original trilogy but my preface are the special editions because those are the ones I saw in the theaters and their is nothing wrong with that.  And the blu-ray's of the star wars saga are the best the films and ever looked and sounded some my not agree but that is for anyone to judge.

Actually, they aren't the best the films have ever looked... they looked significantly better in 70mm.  And Harmy's look better than the BDs too.

Besides, it's not about what I want... it's about preserving movie history.

That said, I appreciate that you have been quite polite here.

The way you write, "but that is for anyone to judge" comes across as "but they are wrong."

Try using the words "in my opinion" more often and you might not rub so many people up the wrong way.
