Seriously, dude, all the info you need is there. As far as different versions go, there are four: the XVID, which what you'll probably find on YouTube if you look, the DVD-5, the DVD-9, AND the Purist.

The Purist version is unavailable on fanedit.info due to differences of opinion on what constitutes a "fan edit". The admins don't believe that there are enough changes to the Purist to make it a true fan edit. Apparently 240 changes aren't enough...
But we love them anyway.

Hey I'm not complaining about this edit for the sake of it, Ady did some exceptional stuff. I just find the minute details a little irrelevant, when there are bigger things you could address. So don't polarise what I'm saying, just because I dare to make a criticism. That would be truly sad.

Lucas never focused on the little things in the SE, of course, he ignores the bigger things too, just makes changes no one asked for. ;-)
Okay that's cool. I do totally agree with you on that, once you've noticed an error you can't unsee it. I remember when I noticed the error in Jurassic Park about the terrain during the first T-Rex attack I just can't watch that scene without it being spoiled.
As for Lucas, while I do still have great affinity for him because he created Star Wars, you're right about that. I don't get this drip-drip tinkering thing he's doing at all. Either change everything that bothers you, or don't change anything.

The fact that this is a Special Edition mistake is what's really interesting. In recreating the wipe, some kind of half exposed frame was used. The fact that it's coming off a wipe means that it could have been Pacific Titles that made the mistake, but no one noticed during QC for the past 15 years?Mr Ghostface said:

I'm sure there are plenty around here who find the minute details among the most satisfying tweaks being given some attention. But I'm curious, what are these bigger things that you think still need to be addressed, that haven't been so far?

For a company like Lucasfilm and its affiliates, yes, it is staggering. And if you read what I posted, I was expressing my surprise at people picking up on what I perceive as irrelevant, as a viewer. Commenting on the work of people who actually work on this stuff for a living is totally separate, as you well know.
Not really. Lucasfilm's releases have typically been shoddy, half-baked, and lazily slapped together ever since the mid-90's.

Some may stone me for this, but could Ady replace the Tatooine matte at the start with something new... Was watching a ANH:R last night, and the planet surface just looks like a painting to be frank, it too mono layered rather than looking 3D despite Ady causing it to slowly spin.
The other suggestion, again some of you may not like, is having a different Death Star explosion... The original explosion just doesn't seem very realistic to me, there's very little debry just some yellow particles.
Possible other suggestions, though not sure where they could fit in pacing wise would be brief cameo's for the Emperor and Yoda; possibly have the Emperor appear briefly as a hologram fading out to say Tarkin, Yoda, could react along with Ben to the destruction of Alderaan.
