Perhaps I'm not clear.

We WANT them to re-do the SFX form TNG and Bab5?

I thought this website is against that type of thing?

The point I was making was that the resolution of the special effects is a unmovable log jam for future releases of the episodes.

If the DVDs look jarring because the highly interwoven effects are of a different resolution and aspect ratio to the live action imagine how that would look on blu-ray.

The only way B5 could get a blu-ray release would be sell less discs by fitting more episodes on each.

Nobody would buy such a set (I doubt WB would want to sell them).

Classic Doctor Who is probably in a similar state.

DVD is probably the last viable physical medium for selling those episodes (as much as I love my Day Of The Daleks set the picture isn't going to look better with a further upgrade).

People will probably be able to get the episodes as downloads but they will never look better than the DVD versions.

The only way to get around that with B5 would be to redo all the effects (which is pretty much a total rebuild of the series) WB probably wouldn't pay for that even if the sets sold well.
