You should own copies on DVD if you are going to download DJ's.

Also, the rules say that now they are available, you should own the Blu-rays if you are going to download preservations based on HDTV broadcasts.

But I already have Harmy's and I'm not buying the Blu-rays... does that mean I should delete them?

Wait, are you talking about Harmy's Despecialized Edition or the Official Blu-Rays?

Harmy's. Obviously.

Where did you get the impression I was talking about the BDs?

Theoretically, yes.  But you certainly shouldn't talk about it if you don't.

And if you burned them already, um you have to burn them but for realz!

Are OT rules retroactive? Laws aren't AFAIK, so rules shouldn't either.

Okay, then.  I can get the individual GOUT DVDs pretty cheap used on Amazon; I'll use my own money.  However, there's something in the way, as well.  Have I ever told you the story about how I got the Lost in Space BD?  I suppose I haven't, so here it goes.

Ever since my family got our Blu-Ray player (it's useless now, but it wasn't back then), I wanted to get a movie I liked on Blu-Ray.  Yes, I chose Lost in Space when I could've chosen ANYTHING else.  It was just the first cheap movie I could find on BD.  I wanted it more than anything.  So, I came to my dad and made a deal.  If I spent two solid weeks without blowing up in anger, I'd buy the LiS BD with my own money.  He agreed, and it took, like, two months for me to keep cool for two weeks in a row.  Then it took two weeks for the blasted thing to get here.  But now, I have it, and enjoyed it while I could.  I can only see the same story with the GOUT.  I'll tell him the same thing: I'll do the two weeks and use my own money.

Here's another question: Is owning a DVD enough to get the SD version of the Despecialized Edition?

The franchises I get nerdy about are so obscure that not even most nerds know about them.

Why do you have to keep your cool for 2 weeks to buy a BRD with your own money?

If your Dad offered to buy the movie with his money if you were good for 2 weeks, that would make more sense.

I've read it already.  I'm asking if an HDTV-sourced project was scaled down to Standard Definition, if it'd be okay to get it when you only have the DVDs.

Why else?  Because I was the one who was making the deal, and I was desperate for him to say yes.  Besides, it was only $10. ;)

So then...you need to beg your dad to let you spend your own money?

My head still can't wrap itself around this amazing deal making tactic.

I'm in one of those moods where I just sit at the computer and shave while watching videos on YouTube.

I don't know what kind of mood that is...

You shave at the computer?  That's bizarre.

Wouldn't you get hairs in between the keys?
