This is awesome, if there's David Bowie......
;-)
I'll be on USD Radio weekly, Tuesdays at 10 PM western time hosting my radio show. I'll be playing music pertinent to my tastes; most of you guys have a fair inclination of what my taste is already, so if it's to you liking please tune in!
This week: Ryan Trask from Niantic, barring any unforseen trouble. It'll be a fun show where we discuss influences, life, and all sorts of other banter. Please look forward to it!

Don't forget to tune in!

For all 2 of you that tried to stream, you couldn't. The program managers are incompetent and forgot to get firewall permissions so we could only broadcast on USD's own wireless network. Tune in next week same time same radio station... to see if they got it right
A Goon in a Gaggle of 'em
Like I said on Twitter, I had a radio show in college. It was only available to students on the wired network in dorms using RealPlayer or who happened to be in the snack bar. I don't think we were legally allowed to let it out any further.
So Friday nights from 8-midnight, I never got many listeners, if any at all. I could hardly blame them. Christian Pop Rock isn't the best thing to listen to. But I had some fun cohosts, and since no one listened, including the professors, there were times when we would go 20 minutes without playing a song. I wanted to have more of a talk show with some songs during the breaks, but they wanted more songs than talking.
A classmate of mine actually took his show seriously, had guests, bits, actual prep time. And you know what, he's been working in radio ever since. I decided it wasn't for me, but I'm really looking forward to being on the RotCast in November.

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM
"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.
They fixed the firewall permissions. We weren't allowed to upload outside of our own network or something. Same Bat-Time, Same Bat-Channel? You betcha! Be ready for the Kevin Brennan Funtime Variety Hour, starring Kevin Brennan! NEXT TIME: featuring Tubular Bells!

Same Bat-Time as listed above, Same Bat-Channel as in first post! It's uncanny, almost as if this was planned!
Will Kevin stay cool... FOREVER?

What day of the week, there's a lot of math involved, smartass. ;-)

What's this?!? A miscalculation on bkev's part?
INDEED!! There's mystery afoot, but this point will soon be moot!*
For you, the night Kevin graced your ears will be the most important night of your life. But for me, it's Tuesday.**

Your over-dramatic-ness is really selling this for me. I'm going to really try to listen to the next episode!bkev said:

Your evaluation may vary, by the way. Just getting that disclaimer out of the way so I don't have to answer to angry forum posts.

Trust me, most of me is very glad there are no recordings of my college radio show.
If we listen, can we interact live via Twitter or something?

I will be willing to. Given that Tubular Bells is going to be 90% of the show (internet streaming laws are tough, but this album is only two songs so I can play it in full), I'd like to build an interactive base. In other weeks I'll be speaking more but Tubular Bells is like 49 minutes long so I'm going to play part 1 straight through and then part 2.

THIS
Would you believe it was Star Wars that led me to that name? I was registering Jedi Outcast online and it required I make a LucasArts account. Suggested that. Sounded cool to a 4th grader, and - well - it's worked well enough these past few years.

By that logic, that makes you Honzi X.
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.
His name is Honzavier Xavier, actually.

That's amazing.
Alright, I'll try to listen on Tuesday, if I can.
This brings back memories. I did a radio show for 3 years in school at the University of Tampa. Equipment never setup right, limited broadcast, terribly weak AM signal, never turned on in the school common areas etc.
I'll definitely check out your show bkev!
Here's the old facebook page for my main show:

God, I loved doing this. I popped in all the time and just went for hours. Then I upgraded all my music to lossless quality and began lugging in laptop, external harddrive, CDs, Vinyl, Singles, Turntable, even cassettes in every show (which got to be several times a week). Really reignited my interest in music. Especially albums as a cohesive whole. I started doing classic and underrated albums weekly. (Need to upload the full list of ones I did.) Blew some people's minds with the 1st press Who's Next, original mix of Quad, Albini mix of In Utero, and later R.E.M. records.
My old standby line was about my loyal -5 listeners. We finally got internet streaming that didn't work very well. (does that ever work right? ;)
I also learned the joy of the air guitar. Every show I did ended with a Who mini-set that involved me thrashing about for at least 35 minutes in an empty station with everything cranked past 11. And on the final show I did break a guitar. Literally. ;)
Damn. I really need to start doing this again. Does anybody know a good way of DIY radio? I've thought of just making a video or podcast and setting it somewhere.

Since we are a streaming-only station I am bound by the bizarre standards of the DMCA: in any 3-hour period, I can webcast:
No more than 3 songs from one album;
no more than 2 played consecutively
No more than 4 songs from a set/compilation;
no more than 3 played consecutively
No more than 4 recorded songs by the same artist
(live studio appearances are okay)
I know my local radio station has bypassed this in the past for whatever reason but I definitely can't... which is a disappointment, as I'd wanted an album-oriented rock program. I'm already on eggshells for trashing the station due to its problems (my friends decided to have fun and raid the facebook page... I got lectured for that) and I took a Fleet Foxes poster from the office that hopefully nobody has noticed is missing.

I know the feeling about treading lightly...fortunately we never went by the dmca but still paid the regular licensing fees. I think this was because we were only just getting the internet stream setup. Then again, I don't think anyone put the right amount of thought into doing things correctly...
