DVD labels art

Thanks to Ritker, I recently got the TR47 set (looks and sounds terrific!), and I'd like to put labels on the dvds. I've tried searching the forum, but can't find any art for the discs themselves. Can anyone help?

^ I think you can buy specialised cd/dvd label paper in a pack of 20 sheets, there is usually 2 dvd imprints per sheet of A4 sized paper - ready to printed on and then be peeled off and very carefully placed onto a disc.

Or you can buy a printer than can print right on the dvd, if you have $100 burning a hole in your pocket. Epson R200

I don't do labels for DVDs. DVDs spin faster than CDs, and therefore get hotter quicker. On a longer movie especially, but on repeat viewings of any movie, the disc label can melt off and ruin the player and the DVD. Happened to a friend of mine's backup copy (his was flooded out and yes he actually uses DVDXCopy for backups and not bootlegs) of LOTR:FOTR EE last year.

I've heard of the ill effects of stick-on labels on DVD-Rs, but I was wondering if labeling them with a Sharpie (like I do for all of my burned CDs) hurts the DVD-Rs as well, because I have yet to label my O-OT copies and my Clone Wars and Holiday Special DVDs because of it. If using a Sharpie on them doesn't hurt them, then I'll definitely have to label them.

BTW, welcome Obi_Skywalker! I see you liked my avatar (not my creation, but one I use on TFN and submitted to Jay for using here).

Thanks for the welcome. I tried to upload my own avatar and got an evil error message.

Welcome to the nightmare that afflicts everyone on this site. The provider of the webspace for the forum for some reason won't allow us to upload our own avatars, causing a lot of trouble for our friendly neigborhood webmaster (Jay), who has to be e-mailed our avatars before they can be used. Quite unfortunate. But I have to say you have good taste in avatars.

He definitely will, Obi. It won't be uploaded to your profile, but it'll be available in the list of avatars, as I found out this morning. I didn't think he had been able to upload mine, but then I saw that you had used it.

Labels are really not a good idea, the better solution is to get inkjet printable DVDs and print directly onto the DVD surface. I know not many people have this capability but Epson makes a few printers that can do this easily. I have one myself but it is not feasible to print out discs for everyone, I simply don't have time to do that.

Inserts for what I think are the Anamorphic Version (70-odd chapter stops), though the blurb at the bottom of the inserts has 'letterbox edition' on them... you decide:-

TR47 has a very good point.........

I also agree Labels are a bad idea they can gey stuck in players and they can also make the DVD's VERY hard to copy as the actually unbalance the discs - I had a few discs actually make EXTRA whizzing noises in my DVD player before.

- Get a disc printer For less then $100
