They know we exist, and they know what we want - Lucas can't hold out forever.

If by "forever", you mean "until he dies", I have a feeling that's exactly what he'll do. The man loves money, but I think he loves having the last laugh even more. We've badgered him for this so much and for so long that I think denying it to us has become a matter of principal to him.

After he dies, though? I have a feeling whoever takes his place will see the potential in a remastered OOT.

Also, I just read about the Twitter debacle with Katie Lucas. I won't hold a single word against her, because anyone who would take their grievances to her is an asshole to begin with. If people came on my Facebook talking shit about my old man, I'd treat them like dirt too.

On the flip side of the same coin, wasn't she also posting tweets that could be interpreted as baiting angry fanboys?

That's been my only real problem with her.    As an official spokesperson for LFL she should be handling herself more professionally, regardless of her relationship to the owner.

Did she take over for Sansweet when he left? Or is this a different position?

Perhaps, but I can't help but side with her when she tirades about the ridiculousness of the phrase "raped my childhood". While you could argue about whether or not the phrase is technically correct, the inescapable fact is that the word "rape" has heavy baggage tacked onto it. To use it in reference to something as trivial as a movie is nothing short of irresponsible.

It was something like "The haters hate, and then they go buy it." So it was a taunt of sorts. Whatever. She is captured on film forever as a big blueberry alien.

I'm no fan of that phrase either, matter of fact I despise it.

If she's tweeting in a professional capacity, that requires a certain amount of decorum. One shouldn't get sucked into the lunatic fringe segment fanboy statements, or personally engage in flame wars with them. That's playing right into their hands, whether they are loons or simply trolls.

Meh. When I was growing up, I recall Celtics' radio announcer Johnny Most screaming "Bird was raped!", implying that Larry Bird was fouled and there was no call. Was I supposed to take that literally?

Is the phrase "my childhood was raped" too much? Of course. But does it really belittle people who have been raped? Was someone who was raped actually offended by a geek saying "George Lucas raped my childhood"? There's sensitivity, and then there's needless sensitivity. And it doesn't have to have sexual connotation.

Third definition: an act of plunder, violent seizure, or abuse; despoliation; violation: the rape of a countryside.

Connotation or not, the phrase is often used to trivialize rational arguments and steer a conversation right into the ground.

Lumping all detractors into that boat is a convenient way to avoid the issues.

Can anybody tell me if Aayla is still green in ROTS? I'd like to satisfy my perverse Twi'lek snuff fetish, but seeing her with green skin just turns me off. I'd be forever grateful to anyone who can give me the answer, and promise never to try luring their wives/girlfriends/daughters into my basement.

Looks like that boycott called by hardcore fans didn’t amount to much. Nor were buyers perturbed by some very controversial changes in the 9-disc Blu-ray release of Star Wars: The Complete Saga with 40 hours of extras. Instead, the Complete Saga on Blu-ray release broke global sales records with 1 million units sold and $84 million filling cash registers. It quickly becomes the #1 pre-order and #1 catalog title since the launch of the high-definition format. Needless to say, Lucasfilm Ltd and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment are high-fiving today’s announcement that Star Wars is the bestselling catalog Blu-ray Disc of all time, including 515,000 units sold in North America in its first week alone. This worldwide consumer spend included $38 million in North America – unprecedented for a 9-disc Blu-ray collection at a premium price:

I must admit, perhaps in folly, that I thought the Blu-Ray release might actually be impacted by people's reaction to the leaked changes. I constantly hear people talking about the BDs and the changes on the street (I live in Toronto). Sadly, I guess this is not the case.

I'm not sure what to think, what to feel. Maybe I should be disappointed, or outraged, or kind of sad, or wistful, or something. Instead I kind of feel just nothing.

The thing about Katie Lucas' twitter is that she seems to want to use it for both promoting Lucasfilm and, Star Wars. Yet also have the freedom of a personal account where she can pretend to be an anon and, just backlash against people.

Yes what McSquiggins posted is completely unacceptable. However, she is the one that decided to not only bait things with obvious hot topic tweets. She also decided to escalate things referring to him as a "talentless prick" and, taking a stab at him for his follower count. Recently, I lost about 10 followers when, I was mainly just trying to friendly communicate with my followers. It doesn't make one a "talentless prick" for having a low follower count any more then her 2,082 followers automatically make her talented. While I don't begrudge her using her account to promote her work. It does make it more representative of what LFL allows for public representation. If it weren't for the fact that her dad is the boss she'd probably be fired by now. Regardless of public opinion escalating things and, defending her father's work are two different things. While I do feel sad that people decide to trash talk George Lucas via her accounts mentions. She's not faultless in this either.

its more or less a straw man and a cop-out.   1 person on hometheaterforum said this and he was reprimanded on the spot.  he only had one post and hasn't posted since then so an obvious troll.  other than that,  I cant say I've heard this since AOTC (unless you want to count the now famous south park indiana jones episode).

sycophants like to say "blah blah, you just don't like the PT cuz jar jar raped your childhood" against any criticism that gains traction.  back in the day on the TFN basher sanctuary,  they didn't even try this because the posters discredited the PT purely on storytelling fundamentals. Just like here.  and RLM.

so they know its to their advantage when someone says this because it makes it easy to change the subject or dismiss any criticism.

as for kate lucas, I asked on another thread what exactly her role is.  I don't have twitter so I don't know if there is a way to confirm if this tweet actually was from her.  and if it was, she just makes a fool out of herself as far as Im concerned.

HILARIOUS. Why she gets into it with people like that, I'll never understand. It's tempting and forgivable the first couple times, but she seems to do it a lot. My opinion is that she is baiting and antagonizing to boot. That makes her pretty unsympathetic in my book.

If you have seen a beautiful landscape raped by the building of a hideous, unnecessary edifice the use of the term in the context that Star Wars fans sometimes use it becomes less of a problem.

It's a word.

Just because modern parlance has stripped it of it original usage (to seize and spoil) doesn't mean it becomes redundant in any other context.

Yes it's something that should be used carefully but seeing as these films are very important to people and are being treated so badly I think it's a valid use of the English language.

If the OUT was available to see theatrically and buy and not replaced by the SE of the hour, the use of the word to describe the SEs alone would be stupid as nobody would be forced to watch only the SEs.

Seeing as at least a generation of people can only see the original versions of these films via inferior copies or illegal means I defend that choice of words even if I wouldn't use them myself.

Funny she brought up using a fucking dictionary, because clearly she didn't:

rape (third-person singular simple present rapes, present participle raping, simple past and past participle raped)

  1. To force sexual intercourse or other sexual activity upon another person, without their consent.
  2. To abuse an object in an extreme manner.
The loggers raped the virgin forest
  3. (slang) To dominate in a contest.
My experienced opponent will rape me at chess.
