Yeah I saw that YouTube video too. While I agree with the message, I really hope he won that copy in a sweepstakes or something of that nature, because if he paid for it, well, George still got the guy's money.

It’s really sad when the “creative minds” behind something we hold dear are also guilty of its destruction.

Finally watched ROTJ, so I've now watched the entire saga. No other changes apart from what I already knew. So the guy who's talking about an added midichlorian line is bullshitting.

ROTJ is definitely the best looking of the OT BDs, in my opinion. Yes, it still has its share of pink sabers and possibly the most abominable changes, but I still really enjoyed it. I sure hope the Darth Vader's cries of "NOOO" go the way of Luke's ESB scream, though...

Darn you! I haven't had a Roy Rogers burger in over 30 years! Where the heck am I supposed to find one on the west coast at this hour? ;)

I'm still slogging through the documentaries disc.

Anatomy of a Dewback doesn't look any better than it's old CD-ROM incarnation. The part where they consider using alternate takes when they can't find the original negative of the troopers in the desert shot is unintentionally funny. If they can put a CGI lizard into the movie, surely they can darken a stormtrooper's eye lenses and use the alternate take if need be?

Conversations with the masters is nice, but really short. Probably Irvin Kershner's last interview? (No mention of his passing.) Also gives the impression there's still tons of behind the scenes footage we haven't seen yet.

Star Wars Tech is the only thing on the disc in HD.

Star Warriors is really good. I hope all the internet smart asses who were trashing this thing sight unseen feel bad now!

If there are any easter eggs on this disc, I haven't found them.

The lightsaber fixes are interesting from the shots I've seen.

In ANH, they're all brightness changes for the entirety of the few shots they modified:

But in RotJ, they are entirely new cores that have been CGIed to the glows:

For those who watched the prequel BDs, did you find the sound for ROTS to be flat compared to the other 2?

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

theres been a lot of feedback on avsforum and hometheaterforum regarding sound issues for the BDs - specifically AOTC.

Has anyone had any problems?  so far looks like it could be a firmware issue or a new THX feature taking up too much memory.

I've seen people talk about the load times here, but was wondering if there been any reports of sound gaps, pops, etc.

saw AOTC at a neighbor's place and i don't recall any issues (i think he has one of those blu-ray/speaker/receiver combo systems).  however there was a new edit that i mentioned in  aprevious post that was so bad, we actually thought the disc skipped, lol

Hopefully there wasn't a QA problem and a batch of defective discs.  Would make it much more difficult to buy these second hand.

click here if lack of OOT got you down

I don't know why but when I put in the 3rd bonus disc, all of the features that are in SD play as a tiny little picture in the top left hand corner of my screen instead of in the center with bars on the sides, almost like a picture in picture kinda thing. It's really annoying and I can't figure out how to fix it, if anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate them greatly.

Also, I don't know if it's just my player or what but this seems to only happen with Fox titles, My Alien Anthology does this same thing with the director's intros when I watch the alternate cuts but they played normally when I tried them on my dad's player.

I like the star wars saga on blu-ray I like the whole box set picture (episode 1 cause of the DNR is ok but not great on blu-ray)  , sound , extras , deleted scenes , everything. I just like it that we have all 6 films on a format that we can all enjoy. Sure some will not be happy with the new color timing of the OT and the UOT are not on blu-ray that goes without saying.

Yeah, I enjoy the format just fine; it's the films I have a problem with :D

I don't have the Blurays, but I've always found this to be the case.  Episodes 1 and 2 have enormous dynamic range and thunderous bass response throughout, which 3 is utterly flat and dull in comparison.  There seems to be only a few places in the movie where the LFE channel is even used at all, let along with any degree of strength, and nothing that even comes close to the other two.

I believe this is because Gary Rydstrom was the re-recording mixer on the first two, but was not involved with the third.  Superb dynamics and bass seem to be a hallmark of his film mixes.

Hi, Ken! Welcome back. Now that the BluRays are released, are you ready to admit that you were wrong about the inevitability of the colars being fixed?

Yes to a extent some of the problems with the colors where fixed some where not.  Sure the new transfers of the OT on blu-ray are not perfect by any means but it is better than the dvd release because that release had a lot of A/V problems with those transfers.

I've not seen any evidence outside of 4 or 5 shots in the ANH duel that have been modified in any way, color or brightness -wise.

I'm about half way through Disc 8.

The "fly through" of the Lucasfilm archives is a neat introduction. Unfortunately, now every potential master criminal in the world knows what George keeps in his nondescript barn on the ranch. :P

The rotating views of props models and costumes are pretty neat. At this resolution, the models are really showing their age. Vader's TIE appears to have been dropped at some point since it was shown on the old DC Laserdisc set. A bit of the front cockpit window is missing, and one of the wings is askew!

Seeing the prototype models is also really cool. The prequel ships could have looked more like them. ;)

Tons of pre-production art here. Some of it will be very familiar if you own "The Art Of" books for each film.

You can literally see the seams and stitches in some of the costumes.

It's interesting the matte paintings are about the shape and size of our modern video displays. The comparison wipes between them and movie footage leads to one goof though. The original Cloud City apartment painting wipes to it's CGI replacement. Whoops.

I would have personally liked to see even more props and costumes from each film than are shown here. An old fashioned Laserdisc style still gallery would not have taken up much space. Nor would the inclusion of the old Laserdisc extras.

The interview segments are really short, but informative. I never knew what was the first FX shot ILM actually completed for Star Wars.  A piece in the Dagobah section with Lucas discussing the Force sidetracks into prequel footage long enough to make you wonder if somebody goofed up.

It's irksome to see some vintage behind the scenes footage presented here in better video quality than the old documentaries got.

Can't say much about the deleted scenes that hasn't been said already elsewhere. Been waiting more than half my life to see some of these, and having them in HD warts and all is probably one saving grace of the whole hullabaloo. If you can get this disc by itself on Ebay, do it!

The "play all" feature is nice if you hate button mashing the remote through sub menus all day. (Or just want to watch the deleted scenes.) Being able to start at the beginning of the Empire or Jedi sections without skipping a hundred chapters to get to them would have been nice.

Will slog through the Jedi section tomorrow.
