Watching the extras of the fore-mentioned Doctor Who DVD I discovered that the guy supplying the effects for their special edition was none other than farmergeddon71 so effectively not only have they put out a special edition with the original but they did the equivalent of getting Adywan to do their special edition for them and paid him too.
Even the preservation team is comprised largely by expert fans.
