Reave here, owner of FE

I have been thinking about this for a long time now, and recent events have inspired me to move forward on it.

Originaltrilogy.com and Fanedit.org have had a shaky, if not usually respective relationship at times. The time has come to bury all of that, and move towards a more unified and powerful fanedit and preservation community.  I chose today because it is a day of great tragedy that has seemingly already united our sites in the common cause of preserving and enhancing the legacy of Star Wars.

I personally have had an attachment to Originaltrilogy.com since its earliest incarnation as a simple petition to release the Original Trilogy on DVD. I moved into the community further as the site developed into a wonderful resource for all things related to Star Wars video projects. Then came The Phantom Menace, and our little community received a spark that exploded into the fan-built community that we sometimes forget the value of.

As I moved into fanediting myself, I joined the then brand new community of Fanedit.org, while still using originaltrilogy for the valuable resource it is and to maintain the great friendships that I had built there. As time has passed, and my personal life became busier, I had less time for OT and lost touch there. I also began to notice some of the bad mouthing that was going on between the sites, and was turned off by it all. Thankfully, most of that animosity has died down, and I have been enjoying my visits to OT.

Reflecting on that all recently, I realized that it wasn't FE or OT that was responsible for the animosity, but rather the actions of a few bad seeds. It is time to push those who want to divide our community out of the way and allow our complimentary scenes to become a united community.  With that all in mind, I recently decided to make my feelings and the mutual feelings of the staff at FE official.

And so from this day forward, September 16th will be known as International FE<3OT Day. A day that could be blackened by the release of the horribly disfigured Star Wars Blu-rays, will instead be known as a day of community rejoicing in our common goals of preserving and
enhancing the Star Wars legacy, as well as the other great movies we all love and enjoy.

I have asked all FE members who share my love of OT to proclaim their love for OT by changing their OT forum signature to the FE<3OT logo.

I want to thank Jay, Moth3r, all the staff and the wonderful forum members at OT for creating and maintaining a wonderful site for the Star Wars and fanediting community, that ultimately helped foster FE itself. Now more than ever, you are a truly valuable resource to us all.

Thanks guys. Long live OT!

very nice.  and great idea Reave.  I found OT several years ago (looking for theatrical versions, plus preservations like the holiday special), right when FE was forming.  Made some great friends both places.  Hope to see both places thrive *together* in the future :)

Along with Save Star Wars a friendly relationship with the trinity of sites can only do everyone associated with them the world of good.

I signed up with FE but I hardly go there because I can't remember my password partly but also because most of the people over there are over here too and time is a bit less of a free resource for me.

I propose an idea which might be fun.

What about having a thread on each site where people who can bother can nominate notable events on the other forum.

Something like "Meanwhile on FE.ORG" and "Meanwhile on OT.COM".

It would be a way to have a communal giggle at things that members of the two communities may otherwise not have noticed.

You retroactively "posted" my pic before I did!

I wish I did a better job now. I didn't know the font so I just hacked up reave's to make it. The spacing is all f...

I'm proud to be FE and OT.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Wait...  I didn't know there was heat... and now it's gone!??!!?

I never get to be on the front lines in a war. :(

I love (and always have loved) FE. FE<3OT!

Now if we can just get all four guys at Digital-Fanedit to bury the hatchet... at last we shall have peace...

Let's not dwell on what issues may or may not have existed, and instead focus on a stronger community

You're right. Let's just accept that it was probably Frink's fault, and move on.

I hope this is a sentiment that Jay and Moth3r.   I would like to see Jay and Moth3r comment in this thread.
