Any word on how this sold? I know we've all been hoping in vain for all of the cancelled pre-orders to make a dent, but what's the betting it's one of the best-selling things in the history of capitalism?

Argh! I've always thought that I saw the extended Biggs scene and this is exactly as I remember it. Somehow, I think I've seen this seen before, complete with the additional dialogue. I'd hate to think that I'm suffering from a grappling hook-esque syndrome... :-(

Ah well. Is this how you remember the scene Puggo?

It is such a strange feeling I have today. Remembering how excited I was just a few weeks ago, knowing the long wait for the latest version of Star Wars is over and it is finally going to be released in glorious hi def blu-ray format, and yet the day is here and I have no desire to buy it. To wait for something for so long, then a few weeks before the day arrives something goes horribly wrong and just ruins the whole thing, like someone popped my balloon.

The NYTimes has some stats either this weekend or early next week.  This site:

http://www.the-numbers.com/weekly-bluray-sales-chart

Will have stats in a week or two.  (they are currently showing the week ending Sept. 4th)  There's probably a site which does daily, anyone know?

Just got back from my local Wal Mart.  I was talking to the guy at the electronics counter and first off, they are keeping the 9 disc set behind the counter.  I asked to see it and he handed it to me and we talked about it for a minute or to.  I asked them how many they have sold....he said 5 all day.  I asked if they still had posters (i know I am gonna buy it...it'a just a matter of when) he said sure want one.  I said yeah let me see one.  Its a nice poster.  He just gave it to me...told me to take and enjoy!!

I watched Chris Gore's review on Attack Of The Show.

(you may want to do some deep breathing exercises and/or take a blood pressure pill before you read any further...)

He said George Lucas is "FAN FRIENDLY"!! 8-O Apparently, because he "encourages fan-edits" etc. I can't find a video of the review to post, but if anyone can find it, it's a HOWLER!

^^My cat can't stop laughing, in fact! :-D

He encourages fanfilms but I guess the best you could say for him as far as fanedits go is that he hasn't actively attempted to prevent them (yet).

It's not as if the bigger names in that game are hiding in a cave in the mountains.

G4 posts 'Attack of teh Show' online a week after broadcast, so sometime next week, the review will be on their site. Gore says GL is fan friendly because he allows the fan film thing to happen. (the fan film contest, etc) Gore then goes on to say that GL is basically no different then the fan editors at this point. Both sides playing in the same sandbox.

And guess which side is actually attempting to preserve the Unaltered Trilogy from the best sources available? ;)

The franchises I get nerdy about are so obscure that not even most nerds know about them.

So sad to see so many people breaking down and buying this garbage.

And that...is why they fail.

Young Anakin and Obi-Wan

Sebastian Shaw as Anakin Skywalker, Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi

If you want the OT deleted scenes, PM me and I'll send them to you! DON'T BUY THE BLU-RAY DISCS!!!

I agree.  I don't want to hear any fan who bought this set still say they want the originals to be released.  If you enjoy the changes and are enjoying this set, thats cool with me.  But if all the people who are on the fence because they hate the changes didn't buy this and this set didn't sell well, we would see the OOT fully restored coming very soon because it would hit Lucas in the wallet.  I bought the 2004 set so I am guilty of 'caving in' but I realized that I was part of the problem back then and no way was Lucas getting my money this time.  As long as this set sells like hotcakes, the more chance we never see the OOT fully restored.

I have stuck to my guns so far and not bought the set. Went into an HMV to see the display, and admitted to my wife, "I hate the fact that I want to be excited as all hell for this, but can't go through with it."

I actually just made a pretty killer box-set with custom artwork of the dark_jedi v3 cuts and Adywan's current two colour-corrected SE AVCHDs (SW and ESB), so I am watching those instead...

I honestly do not believe that people "caving" is in any way related to the lack of an OOT at this point.  And I believe it will come one day (ir)regardless.

Having said that, I'm still on the fence. :p

I don't have any money, so I can't cave. I have Harmy's despecialized trilogy in 720p, and I've never been happier.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

And that is supposed to justify stiffing out on the originals? o_O

He said something else like fans are "arrogant" to tell Lucas what he can do with his films since he allows them to use his material to make fanfilms or whatever.

I mean, by that logic- I have never taken advantage of the "fanfilm" materials, so does that make me NOT arrogant to ask for the OOT? It's really ridiculous reasoning, and the guy seemed a bit flustered trying to come up with coherent justifications.

The existence of fanfilms has nothing to do with preventing theatrical screenings of the originals, or anything else for that matter.

Did Ernie Fosselius need George's permission to make Hardware Wars? Or Kevin Rubio when he made Troops? Parody is protected free speech last time I checked.

That's funny, I said that same thing and received negative responses for that "tired" phrase, even though people are saying it and ironically validating the satire. You say it and people agree. Guess this newb has a lot to learn...

“Grow up. These are my Disney's movies, not yours.”

Parody is, but many fan films aren't parodies. They're new material using LFL intellectual property, which is why only parody fan films can be shown at conventions.

What is funny is the fact that I haven't watched Attack of the Show since G4 started it's slow decent into crap years ago, but when you said Chris Gore from Attack of the Show. I haven't watched it enough to know people's names,  but for some reason my douche radar knew exactly who it was.

I didn't know why I didn't like him until now. My early prejudices have now been justified.

Ignoring the first bit of this deleted scene (which is now perhaps one of the most awkward Star Wars moments... ever), the rest is actually pretty good.  Leia's attitude comes through loud and clear.

Is it just me or does Han come off very John Wayne in this?

Honestly I think if everyone here decided not to buy the set I don't think it would hurt sales enough for GL and friends to care. We are a tiny majority no matter how big this forum is.

I personally won't buy it, but then again I rarely buy Blurays, CDs, DVDs, etc.

I did not buy it. But then I do not have a blu ray player.

But then again I deliberately do not buy a blu ray player as I was waiting to see whet the Star Wars blu ray was going to be like.

I definitely get that vibe. He could've finished it with "Now saddle up your horse and get goin'" and it wouldn't have stuck out.
