Harry Potter 3 — Page 5

Just caught HP3 last night, it was fantastic!

Cauron did an outstanding job and delivered one of the best films ever. The pacing, the atmoshere, the characters all worked wonderfully and created a 'real' world that just sucked me from beginning to end.

I haven't had this good a time in a long while. The first two were terribly dull, that chugged along from scene to scene with no narrative thrust, but this one just zipped by like a roller coaster. There were slow moments full of dread, comical quick bits of humour, and dramatic highs that took my breath away. It was an inspired choice, like getting Kershner to direct Empire and it paid off in spades. It almost made want to read the books, except that I have unfortunately. I wish Cauron directed more of these kinds of films. Certainly better than the LOTR. While HP3 is by no means perfect, as a whole it just works (like the original Star Wars trilogy) and that's what counts.

For other new fans of Cuaron, if you haven't seen the Little Princess, I highly recommend it. Again not just a kid's flick, but a terrific film filled with drama, pathos, humour, humanity and really takes you away. An all time favourite that I'm happy to add HP3 next to.
The original Star Wars trilogy: Our cultural history deserves to be preserved and should be available to the public like all great works of art!

The Little Princess fucking sucked. My sister has that movie its a complete chick flick. Also Chris Columbus is a much better directer. He has respect for the source material. It was way way too short. This movie needs an extended edition.

Hmmm... normally I would just ignore such a response, but maybe Jimbo could reply to Jimbo for me:

Jimbo:No, the Little Princess does not f*cking suck, it's f*cking awesome. Christopher Columbus f*cking sucks and couldn't direct his way out of a paper bag. This movie is great the way it is. Alphonso Cauron has directed a great movie. He is a great director. I have great respect him. I f*cking suck.

There you go, Jimbo on Jimbo.

I'm afraid jimbo's responses are typical of his generation. I was talking to one of the managers of my theatre after seeing HP3, and he agreed that it was the best HP film yet (we're close to the same age); on the other hand, one of the punk theatre cleaners was complaining about some scene or other that he felt needed to be included. The manager and I just shook our heads. Anyone under 25 just doesn't get it. Sweyland, if you're under 25, I apologise in advance and hope you'll give me a better age to set the bar at.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I probably would be the best Harry Potter if it was longer.

Anyone under 25 doesn't get what? I'm just curious as to what you meant. There are a variety of things you could have meant, so I just wanted to make sure I fully understood your post before I commented. BTW, it's not to criticize what you said; I'm in agreement, but I just needed that comment clarified.

Gundark, I am over 25 and I think this movie should be expanded, so I too don't get what you're saying.
