The Phantom Menace

Everything about this single shot works for me.

I really liked the opening of AOTC (even if it broke the pan down rule).

The Naboo ships descending into the foggy Coruscant spirescape felt very 'Star Warsy' in a way that hardly anything in TPM did.

It worked right until Captain Eyepatch opened his big mouth.

Hm, perhaps the prequels should've been done like this, this, or this instead?

Anyways, on-topic...

MMPR: The Movie actually has a solid plot with clear motivations for the villian. Very few plot holes actually exist when you pay attention to the movie itself. It essentially starts with a celebration for an upcoming comet. The rangers then start partying because they don't seem to have much else to do. Then Zordon calls them to discuss Ivan. Ivan gets released uses Tengas to distract them so he can destroy their power source. Along with killing Zordon for locking him up. He almost kills Zordon. The rangers use remaining power to teleport to the planet with the great power. Ivan then gets to work brainwashing the adults of the city into slaves. They fight the guards to the great power. They get Zords from the great power use that to defeat Ivan and, save their mentor. They become Gods with the power over life and, death. It's basically a reboot self contained movie.

A lot of the times I've read/viewed reviews of the movie they either intentionally screw up the chronology of the movie or, they try to criticize it in continuity with the tv show. Considering it's intended as a reboot movie the tv show continuity comparison is just fail on the reviewer's part. It goes without saying that the former is just trying to make something seem worse then it is. Plus, I often see the "parents" complaint that they're not there. While it is odd they're not there when their kids are skydiving for an event. Neglectful parents are hardly a plot flaw. Especially later on as it's easy to assume they're amongst the brainwashed adults.

(Also FYI: the clips I chose in my list up there are just Star Trek and, Switched At Birth related...)
