Is there any chance that the Vader No and the Krayt dragon scream sound better on the final blu ray?  They just didn't sound integrated into the scene.  Perhaps the youtube video that was leaked wasn't what the final product would sound like?  I could tolerate those changes begrudgingly if they didn't sound so awful.

No, they still sound awful. They just don't sound like they belong there, especially the Vader No.. It's too prominent in the mix and doesn't blend in very well.

He was more like a prop played by a martial artist and a voice actor, which limited his potential even more. It wouldn't have been as easy to dub in another voice as it was with Vader. I find it hard to believe that they ever intended to stick with Ray Park's cockney accent.

Seeing as he only spoke in two scenes and an advert I think any mention of the wasted potential of a trilogy of films with Peter Serafinowicz's voice being the prominent villain is as moot as it is tragic.

Exactly!  One has to be philosophical about these things.

Not a troll, not in the least. And thanks to those on the thread who can see it.

I think this is the place where these kind of conversations can be had, where all aspects can be brought up. I really enjoy the back and forth!

It's funny, there were three deleted scenes from the PT that I really wanted to see, one for each movie.

TPM: Obi Wan gets lectured for shorting out his lightsaber in the Naboo swamp. Always seemed like a good scene, nice to have some sorely missed master-student stuff.

AOTC: Padme in the Lars homestead and gives 3P0 his coverings/ alternate 3P0 intro. I'm glad in some ways this was cut because I feel like it could drag the pace, but this seemed like a really good character moment in a film that was awkward and cold.

ROTS: Original Anakin turns sequence. This could have blown people's minds! A solid 10-minutes or so of the core sequence of the film which plays out completely different, with 80% new footage. Why??

There's a lot of little scene extensions that I know they didn't include, like more dialogue between Anakin and Padme after he saves them from Sebulba and onboard the ship in AOTC dressed as refugees, because portions of them are in the outtakes. But they left out a lot of the more interesting scenes.

Indeed. That's the first scene that came to my mind when I tought about the deleted scenes for the Blu-ray. Unfortunately it's not there. Same thing for the extended Duel of the Fates. Some parts appear on a doc in the DVD.

A more apt comparison would be the original pubication of The Hobbit. Once Tolkien wrote Lord of the Rings, he realised that the Gollum scene undermined what Smeagol was all about in the saga, so he 'revisited' it, altering the scene so that Bilbo escapes Gollum under different circumstances.

Of course, it's not a great comparison, really, because that was a change the fans could live with, and actually improved upon the characterisations and forming a cohesive whole with the other books. The changes in these Blu Ray don't do anything but undermine existing emotional tones and piss people off.

You can still read the emended material in The Annotated Hobbit. The original material is reproduced there perfectly, letter-for-letter. A Tolkien fan editor could use this to reproduce the text of the Hobbit with no guess-work, substitution, or insertions from inferior copies. You can also find a first edition of The Hobbit with a little work, which of course perfectly preserves the original text and art. If it's printed on good paper and stored properly, the original Hobbit will survive for centuries, in the most successful and accessible format in history. It is in no danger of being lost or obsoleted.

Star Wars is in a slightly different place. A perfect reproduction would have to be struck from pre-Special Edition film elements. We don't have access to those. We do have home video versions, but they all have well-known defects, or at least shortcomings. We can't say with much confidence that Star Wars will be perfectly preserved for centuries to come. Reconstructions of it? Sure. Low-res official copies? Maybe. A perfect witness to the original? I don't know.

They've never been seen except in stills, but I know they were all filmed.

I don't think the low Amazon rating is in any way dishonest, misleading, or deceptive. The purpose is to RAISE AWARENESS and VOICE DISPLEASURE.

So many people don't know that these versions are not the originals. This is one way we can get that message out.

Lucas may be insulated from the real opinion of a lot of fans. The backlash on Amazon may help him to see how many people really feel. It can give him some numbers to chew on.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

You do get some footage of the "bare" 3P0 in EP2 along with some footage of Padme giving him his coverings in the 3P0 suit 360 degree video commentary on disc 7:

Someone on TFN said that Shmi's voice was added to Anakin's nightmare in Clones.  True?

yes, thats true. It really improves the scene too.

I was listening to this clip, and I don't really notice much of a difference.

Did he just rip it wrong or something?

That isn't the version from the blu-rays.

This is the true Blu-Ray version:

Hm..... why does all the added audio have such a strange echo-tin sound to it?  Shmi's cries, Obi-Wan's howl, Vader's "NO!" all have the same weird sound to them.

Intentional artistic choices.

I actually thought the humour was well played. It was nice to see them be tongue-in-cheek about some of the silliness of the film. I liked that about that early sequence in the film. Reminds me of the banter in the original Star Wars.
