Lucas sold the rights to the radio version of Star Wars to USC for one dollar. He allowed Brian Daley and USC free reign to write and present the story they wanted. He also allowed them full access to the sound effects library and film score.
Where that NPR version of Star Wars is concerned, he was as unselfish and uncontrolling as he could be. Since that NPR version of Star Wars is my go-to for the story, his generosity and lack of meddling is something I'm very grateful for.
