Looking through the PT special features in more depth you get a few glimpses at the EP2 scene where Padme adds 3P0's coverings as well as Anthony Daniels controlling the 3P0 puppet. This also has shots where Anthony in the rig is digitally removed so this scene progressed further than just the filming stage. Now this would have made a more interesting deleted scene than some of the crap they added.
