Funny thing, I already saw that sequence one or two years ago on youtube. Can't remember if it was Exactly the same, but I believe it is. Only... I DO not remember at all the Vader intro, and I must say I'm amazed as it looks like something from today......... From a "fashion" point of view.

Whatever. Adventures... excitement... A Jedi craves not these things.

... huh ?

I'm pretty sure what you saw was the scene mock-up that was done for Returning to Jedi showing the lightsabre prop

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdH12otbLFw&feature=PlayList&p=598853A1150124D0&index=0&playnext=1

check at around the 5minute mark

If any part of the scene that was shown at C5 had ever been on youtube it would have been all over the net, which it wasn't until this was shown at the weekend

Ah, OK. You' re right.

Still, this Vader intro really has a PT feeling that amazes me.

I can see why he would make such a play of releasing one but other than pulling one of the most high profile hoaxes since the Hitler Diaries for a joke I can't see why he would do the other.

EGO. George's massive ego, fed by "yes" men that fill the Lucas Ranch.

And to fool idiots who think its real.

Okay, so let's be clear on some things:

The scene where Luke's hand is repaired isn't Mark Hamill. It is, however, Luke Skywalker, and it is, despite not being Mark Hamill, part of Star Wars. I mean, obviously.

John Williams wrote music for a scene in which Luke builds his lightsabre. Composers write music for things that have been filmed, not things that haven't been filmed. It's reasonable to believe that such a scene was, at some point filmed. I believe Anthony Daniels even said it was filmed, right?

Thus, even if that's not Mark Hamill, that is the scene, and it's not "fake". The corridor Vader is walking down is seen to be outside the Death Star Hangar in the film "Return of the Ewok", which makes this scene fit incredibly well between Vader's arrival and the Droids going to Jabba's. Even if that's not Mark Hamill and he's lying in that clip, it's still a real Star Wars cut scene.

That being said, people's memories are imperfect. Mark could have filmed the scene and forgotten about it until he saw it again. Things like that can jog your memory, you know.

It's clearly Mark, closely examine this capture from the clip and tell me it's not the real McCoy.

... I have a doubt now on Kenny Baker.

As some of the editors on here have (or will soon have) their hands on the blu-Rays I thought it would be better to reanimate this thread to discuss the potential uses of the material in the sets from a fan editing context.

What visual and sound elements are open to salvage?

Are any new deleted scenes usable?

Can any of the 2004DVD deleted material not in these sets be adjusted for use in a HD edit (rescaled, recomposed etc)?

There is still a lot of material missing sadly but what can be done with what we do have?

I hear that the audio for the sandstorm scene is rough, but that Hamill's solemn acting in this scene is more in line with the direction his character has taken since The Empire Strikes Back.

It might be good to use it, if only to replace the grins-all-around exit from Tatooine which exists in the present form of Return of the Jedi.

I haven't actually seen it myself (not touching the Blu Rays) but does anyone who has reckon it's usable or at least salvageable on some level?

Sounds like they're all in standard definition with on-set audio or no audio at all, and in bad shape at that. Maybe someone will be able to clean them up in an SD edit, but we'll have to continue to wait and see.

The word coming out is that the quality of the OT deleted scenes is that they are poor quality.  So that crap on how Lucasfilm said they went back to the original sources was just the usual bs.
