Bump!*

A few months ago I rewatched my Superman II Richard Donner Cut DVD for the first time since I bought it, and remembered why I didn't watch it for so long.  I remembered seeing a "hybrid cut" that mixed Donner's with Lester's on the internet some time ago, and a short search led me FanEdit.org, and that is when I was introduced to the world of fan editing.

I was linked here from there, and started exploring all the different SW preservations and edits, and in my overwhelmedness I signed up and made my first post, asking people which cuts they liked best.  Shortly thereafter I found the off topic section...

I don't quite remember, but once I discovered the site, I was hooked. I starting lurking in November of 2010. So technically, I was around for all the kenkraly2007 shenanigans.

I found this site circa 2005/6 via MySpleen.  I think it was Ritker who turned me on to O.T. in fact. Soon after I joind I got my first LD player, and started working on my own edits. Can't believe it's been over five years now. I had a different name when I first signed on, and became FF when I finished my first fan edit.

Now I have over 100 LD titles, and 3 players.

I think I was  THX-1138 or something like that at first. I can't remember.

Pretty much what ziggy said, but I think I found it when looking up Ady's Empire Revisited. Although I joined because I wanted to be a part of Frinks Ridiculous edit.

I think I ended up here when I was looking for "The Phantom Edit", and then found out about other fan edits, etc., eventually finding SW:R.

As of this weekend, I have 11 players...but only 13 movies.

Is that weird?

I think it was early '07, 8th grade. I found Darth Editous's edit, and stuck around because of Adywan's stuff.

Luckily, it led to me learning more about the OOT and why it deserves to be preserved. So now I'm less of a fanedit freak and a bit of a film buff; I probably have you guys to thank for that.

I found this site easy to use and very comfortable.  I also found the members to be arrogant jerks.

I think I was always here and the website sort of just grew around me.

Something I just remembered.  When I first found the site I was only interested in the fan edits / preservation pages, and hung around there checking on things.  Then one day, a little scuffle broke out in one of those threads, and Dark Jedi asked astrisk8 to 'join him for a chat' in off topic, and I just had to check it out.

Since then, I was hooked.

I think I was googling for RedLetter Media and found the thread in General Discussion.... a few users (incl. VINH) had posted some stuff I couldn't possibly just let stand!

Then when I read how people wanted to shield their kids from the prequels... I knew I couldn't ever leave.

If you were at green light level I'd make a mom joke here.

I was looking at the articles on SaveStarWars.com.  I was looking at the fan preservations section, and I found what I considered the holy grail of fan preservations: DJ's V3.  So many audio options...  So many different ways to enjoy the same movie over and over again...  I just had to have it.  A Google search turned up this place.  After awhile, I decided to join, and after another while, I decided to make my first post.  After that, I made my introduction thread, established my SoN Nerdiness, moved that nerdiness over to a SoN forum, and kept my focus on Star Wars right here.  BTW, I asked my dad if I could download the V3.  He said he didn't want to download pirated films.

The franchises I get nerdy about are so obscure that not even most nerds know about them.

You need to educate him on why it's not pirated, as long as you own the GOUT.

Ask him if someone could mail it to you.

*Gulp*  Okay, I'll ask him about buying the GOUT (Unless a '95 Faces VHS set bought from Goodwill seriously qualifies as the GOUT), and then downloading V3 (or, when it comes around, V4).  I doubt he'd change his mind, though.  The rules of this forum might not neccessarily be the same as his.  He might see it as piracy even if we do already own an official release.  In which case, I won't get it.  Until I'm out of the house.

Bump!

The first time I ever came across this site was when I discovered the world of fan edits, and was checking out Ady's Revisited edits. I didn't discover the actual threads for that until much later. That was about a year ago, but I didn't sign up until June of 2013 when I discovered the Ridiculous Menace and was searching the internet for Attack of the Ridiculousness. I read the threads for both of those and joined so that I could be involved...sort of...with Revenge of the Ridiculousness. I started becoming more active in the past month or so, but you can all thank Frink for me being here.
