There is a video game thread, you know.
Mass Effect 1.

Should this go there then? I wanted this to be more focused rather than just a general thread.

Only time will tell...but in my opinion, yes.
Then again, I don't play video games anymore, except for an occasional split-screening with xhonzi or xhonzi and his wife, so what do I know?
I haven't started 2 yet. 1 didn't bowl me over. What do you think my chances are with 2? I mean, do you think a guy like me, and a game like ME2 could ever...?
IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

If you still have your saves from 1 then yes! Mass Effect 2 is fantastic! Also, getting to continue your own story from 1 into 2 is awesome. I don't think I've ever been as invested in a video game character than I am with my Shepard. 2 takes the series into a lot of great places and really turns things up in terms of action and scale. The DLC is definitely worth it as well, at the very least Shadow Broker is a MUST.
Strangely enough, I already have all of the DLC (except The Arrival). It was all on sale (except the Arrival) last Christmas and I decided I would chance it (except the Arrival).
How was The Arrival?
I am looking forward to starting ME2 soon. As I said in the generic video games thread, I didn't really care for ME1 that much, but the ending had me excited for the sequel.

I'm not sure what to say without sounding like a snob, so I won't try. ME 2 was meant to draw in the FPS crowd and tones done the RPG elements in a big way. I generally didn't like that, but still enjoyed the game. It also tries way too hard to be cool and edgy, when the first one was just naturally cool (if that makes any sense). But since you weren't crazy about ME 1...

I have the affinity to get really pulled into games. ME1 just didn't suck me in like I expected it to.
I like RPGs and I like shooters... but I probably am looking forward to ME2 being a little more to the shooter side.

Then give it a shot. But do your ears a favour and play as femshep.

But I'm already playing as... Shep... Shep. I can't change genders like that, can I?
It IS the future....

Eww, do your ears a favor and stay male shep. I hate fem shep's voice, she just sounds angry all the time. It's very off putting. As for the Arrival, the gameplay and setting isn't anything extraordinary but it directly sets up the story for when you start ME3. I'd say after beating 2, you'd definitely be thrown for a loop at the start of 3 if you didn't know what happened in Arrival. Though I'm sure they'll set it up fine for those that didn't play it.
