The Low-rez mostly. That and all the smearing and aliasing. It doesn't look good on an HDTV in the living room since the LCD HDTV brings out all the problems that come with a low-rez source.
If I had a CRT, it wouldn't look as bad. CRT's have a way of making harsh sources look better than they actually are. Unfortunately, nobody sells new CRT HDTV's anymore.
