I'd rather the Ewoks look creepy than like teddy bears.

Ah. Indeed.

I can understand in a way why Lucas doesn't want to release the originals.  And I'm not bothered by them not fixing effects (even though they promised they would).  We lived with the originals for years with wires showing and un-consistent lightsabers. I can live with the new scenes added into the Star Wars films (except for Jedi Rocks, but I suppose it's too late for that).  But what is unforgivable are the Krayt dragon change and the Vader "NOOOOO!" scene.  And while some people debate about whether or not dialogue at all fits that Vader scene, a lot of people are missing the point.  For both the Krayt dragon scene and the Vader scene the audio is done horribly.  It sounds amateurish.

I don't think I would be so livid about those changes if they sounded like they belonged in the movie.  But the dragon sound is simply two guys wailing very cheesily thrown through some filter, and the second Vader "NO" just sounds comical in the way it trails off and doesn't make Vader sound like he's exerting any effort at all lifting Palpatine.

Such a simple fix. That is what I wish Lucas would change more than anything. And it seems perfectly reasonable if someone would discuss it with him, but instead it gets lost in the vitriol and the bitching about color changes and stuff that matters, but not nearly as much.

I suspect it's just a means of prolonging the copy life of the film as each version would be seen as holding unique elements that Lucas would have rights to.

I thought it was a more sensible joke change (it's so difficult to tell these days).

If it isn't the ANH Redux Thread is the place to go with this one.

I quite like the idea that it was left in because it's the sort of daft thing real people do which makes the Star Wars universe feel real despite the fantasy.

I wouldn't have made a big thing of it though (especially not to stretch it out over other films).

Someone Awesome did a nice fix for this shit..shot! and it worked extremely great in motion :)

So its fixable

Would we be able to sue lucas? It said in the trailers to 'Own every Minute' and that's false advertising, because 'Every Minute' isn't there.

Well, we could send the discs back saying they are defective. Lucasfilm had said that all the DVD errors have been fixed when they clearly have not. Is that not flat out false advertising? Class action?

I've usually been a staunch supporter of G.Lucas and most of his additions/changes to the OT,plus his work with the PT. I even would get mad at some of the comments thrown against him by fans.....until this morning. Yes,I had NO news of the added "NO"s" by Vader. Lucas once said that these movies,at least the OT could basically be "silent movies". You could follow the story simply by the visual impact. So why in the name of hell did he have to f**k with one of my most iconic scenes in the OT! One that still put's a chill in me whenever I see it,,...to me it was PERFECT. A man struggling with an inner demon...the dark side of the force. Remain the dark lord or save my son. The simple turning of his head towards his dying son and his Sith Master....and finally ,without a word...he chooses. It was really one of my favorite scenes ever. I am very upset...that a movie that I've know since the first time in the theater has been tainted,,even ruined,by this SOB...I was excited for this bluray set, but  now...a die hard fan since 77,has been so disgusted by one simple word..."NO".

That's the way I feel about the Han/Greedo shootout.  I loved the character of Han blasting away Greedo through the table.  Very iconic scene that shouted volumes about his character.  Then the SE changed that.  lordsidi, I can relate to how you feel.

I've seen several articles mention that more TIE fighters have been added to the "Here they come" scene in ROTJ. But the video samples they show look the same to me. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

It's funny that so many now appear to get where so many of us have been coming from. Or as Palpatine once said (does he still? hard to guess), "Only now, at the end, do you understand."

The blue elephant in the room.

Thanks,Sluggo. I too could'nt stand the change in "Greedo vs. Han"scene. I'll admit it,I'm a Star Wars superfan and even though I've never dressed up at a convention or wear star wars shirts,hats,etc...I cherish the movies. I read alot of VERY in depth, technical complaints on here and i've shook my head at the anger shown but this is the real first time Ive understood. I also so a youtube clip of "obi wans' krayt dragon yell"......holy sh*t, ...in the name of god what was wrong with the ORIGINAL yell?? Nothing. All I can do is thank my lucky stars for the guys on here who've put their blood, sweat and tears into restoring the originals and now even in HD. I'm a sucker and prob will get the new blu ray set to enjoy the crisp HD picture and for the extras....but in my mind these are NOT my Star Wars movies.

If you have any advice on how to best approach other people who think the in-depth, technical is a little crazy to at least get their support on this sort of thing... we could probably use the advice?

WICKET WANTS YOUR SOUL!

http://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-BhMNVGULq98/Tl_8nRv3MKI/AAAAAAAAIb4/Q8Ti6lUaQ2g/s640/Wicket-04.jpg

so creepy. the Ewoks don't need pupils. it just makes them look really creepy. that's the stuff that nightmares are made of.

maybe Lucas will have nightmares of the new Wicket from now on. :)

Lucas is lucky if Shaw and Marquand aren't haunting him at night. ;)

Some Ewoks did have pupils. I liked Wicket's glassy eyes as they were, they looked more "alien" to me. They did give him pupils in Battle for Endor though.

In the "Classic Creatures" documentary you can see a Ewok mask being worked on that has an articulated jaw and blinks. How many of these made it in the original film, I have no idea. Warwick Davis was promoted when Kenny Baker fell ill before the scene with Leia was shot, so his mask wasn't articulated. He gave that mask a lot of life just pushing his tongue around though.
